The Navigator, the voyager, the Bold
MJ here. Not being catholic I didn't realize there was a St. Brendan. I've now done my wikipedia research and learned you are the navigator, the voyager, "the bold". Well, indeed...it all makes sense now. Your photos brought back some wonderful memories for us.Very nice changing of the guard photos. As you said without really saying, Lima is a big city. It has its place but it is a big city. I remember I was so excited to get to Peru. We arrived late and went straight to bed. We were living in Seattle at the time of our trip. First thing the next morning I through open the curtains and straight in front of me sat a Starbucks. I had to look twice. I thought, darn, guess I'm not as far from Seattle as I thought. That was one of the few disappointments I had on our travels in Peru. Indeed we have loved following your around Peru and look forward to your future adventures.

The Bold!
Hmm, perhaps I should ditch bvchef and become Brendan The Bold! lol. You read between the lines so very well. I loved Peru, but did not really care for the cities, especially Lima. It was nice, but as you said, Starbucks was right there. I think that the nature, hiking, climbing, ruins, sand boarding all hold my interest more than cities. It was a great trip and I am glad I saw it all. Thanks.

Magic taxi rides!
I'm always so impressed by how you just hop in taxis and visit difficult-to-get to places! Oh, a water park, a museum, a restaurant with great views, ancient canals or ruins--just jump in a taxi, and your magic carpet whisks you to amazing places. Congrats on visiting such impressive sites and on experiencing so much even when tours weren't available--you really made magic happen--congrats! Looking forward to your next adventure....

Making it happen
Thank you Tara. I think that the magic taxis are to power traveling as local buses are to slow traveling. You are on buses with local, seeing the scenery. I know that I have limited time and have this fear of coming home, reading blogs from where I visited and realizing that I let an incredible opportunity slip through my fingers because I was content to only do what was easy. That has happened before and I try my best to avoid it. Thank you so much for your comment. And yes, I am looking forward to my next adventure as well. Not sure where, but I know it will be awesome.

Great meeting you!
Excellent account of our adventures in the ruins, and I{m so glad you got to try the guinea pig, you adventurous eater. It was amazing magic that we were able to connect here in Peru, so in a couple of years when I return home, I{ll have to head up north to see you and the TB community up there. May you feast in Lima!

Sandboarding Heaven...
Excellent tip that the Ica sandboarding is better than in Nazca--steeper, more dunes and none of that trucking back up the dune--perfect! Great to see you're packing in the adventures before the restaurants of Lima that hopefully will inspire you in your restaurant until your next adventure.

Corn and Chicken Tamale for Breakfast
Darn Tara, I wish I had taken my camera to the complimentary breakfast today. I had the most incredible corn and chicken tamale for breakfast. Off to do some power sightseeing before heading to the airport tonight. All I can say is that this has been yet another trip for the books. There are few things I didn't do, many things that I did and never thought I would and memories to keep me happy for a long time. It was so great to meet you. I hope to see some of your blogs soon.

If you don't come back... use this as an excuse ;)
"I've been away so long. I may go wrong and lose my way...."

Boy, now that is a good idea
Unfortunately, I have a feeling I will be heading home tomorrow. It will just make the anticipation for the next trip even stronger.

Great advebntures!
Both your Nazca blogs were full of such great adventures. You may not speak Spanish, but you're fab at calling a taxi or an agency to take you out for your own personal adventures! Love those spiral aqueducts and sand dune shots. Best wishes on a yummy time in very foodie Lima.

Awesome Adventures!
Thank you Tara. You're right. I am not that great with Spanish, but I do know how to make things happen. I'm glad I do, because these were some awfully fun outings. I hope you are loving Cusco.

Sunset

Great sunset!
Hi B, loved this sunset picture. Will have to get mom down to see it in color. You know, you can't see a sunset or sunset picture without thinking about her. Everything you have written about and pictured on this trip has been fantastic. Next thing you know you will be a snow boarder. Have fun!

Sunset

I think of Mom when I post them
It's funny that you say that. I always think of Mom when I post sunsets and Dad when I post trains, sheep or monkeys. I had a feeling you would like this trip. From all that I have done, you would think that I was an outdoors kind of guy. Who knew. Snowboarding? Well I will take that under consideration. lol Thanks for the message.

Great photo! You are oozing happiness!! :)

Covered in Sand

Thank you! I took a video clip sand boarding down the dunes and took this still shot at the bottom. I love speed and thrill rides, so this made me very happy.

You be having fun!
Loved every minute of this blog entry! Ancient aqueducts, sun bleached desert bones, dune buggy and sand boarding, it all sound like magic! Even ordinary Chinese food sounds exotic and that sunset! Almost as enchanting as the one from my wine country balcony in summer. Great entry! Glad freak out Brendan was beaten back. On to the next!

You are so right
I have had a blast here. I am glad you have followed this trip. Off to an island marine sanctuary today, Lima tomorrow and then back to reality, sigh.

Best Chicken Ever!

It was as good as it looked. Only 1 or 2 more blogs left I'm afraid. Heading home soon.

Sandboarding looks like so much fun! I guess they don't provide a ride back up the slope. If we make it out there, this will definitely be added to our to-do list. p.s. CA has not fallen into the ocean yet~ :)
19th March 2013

It was a blast. I went sandboarding again yesterday in Ica. They would drive the buggy to the bottom and drive us to different slopes so that we did not have to hoof it. Was a whole heck of a lot of fun. Glad to hear CA is still there, lol.
19th March 2013

Look out world here comes sand boarding Brendan.
We had not heard about the aqueducts and they look very interesting. Wish we had seen that in our research. As you said you can't see everything.
19th March 2013

Went Sand Borading Again Today!
The aqueducts are fairly close to Nazca, but I didn't see any tours to them. Had I not seen them on tv, i would have missed them as well. But yes, it is impossible to see everything.

Best Chicken Ever!

It was even better than it looked. It sure made me happy.
