We are headed to Lima and beyond on 30 April ...
and hope to avoid the Bad and the Ugly! I look forward to reading of your adventures.

Have a great time on your trip
I hope you avoid the Bad and the Ugly too. Do you have your trip all planned out? Drop a PM if you have any questions.

Gassy..
Haha how foul! Hope the rest of your trip is sweeter smelling :)

I'm glad you laughed
I wasn't sold on whether I should write about that, but decided that it is part of the travel experience. I also am certain that many of us on here can relate. I am hoping for a great trip. I can't wait to start reading your blogs soon. You must be getting super excited.

Vicarious travel
As usual, your description is colorful and your photos awesome. Glad you don't transmit all the smells. Have a great trip! I follow your travels from here.

Glad you are along with me
Hello Mrs. Branan. Thank you so much for your nice comments. I find that it is easy to write these blogs when I am so excited by what I have seen and, usually, smelled. I wish I could convey how the city streets smell when vendors are cooking out on the streets and food smells waft out of the restaurants. It is truly magical.

I see you are in South America
I just read and enjoyed your blog and could relate to some of your experiences. I met you on a tour out of Cusco and you emailed me some pictures because I forgot my camera. I will look forward to following your adventures

Guess I have a South America Travel Bug
Hi Sue, I remember you. That was such a great tour that day. This is my travel time, so it was an easy choice to come back to South America. I am only on my first real day out and about here, but feel like I will have some great stories to share on here. Thanks for reading and commenting.

Safe and sound.....good news!
For us both. We are on the front page together!! We miss you already and wish you the best journey possible. We await your next missive with great anticipation. (Perhaps you were expecting baited breath, but that apparently wouldn't go over well after reading your blog!!)

Thanks
I was so surprised when I saw your blog right on top of mine. I love the idea that we were sitting and blogging at the same time. Thanks for dropping by and commenting.

Why not brush with alcohol?
Why did you get water? Who knows what amazingly white teeth you might have had if you used what was in the bottles to brush your teeth??? :) Glad you made it safely and can't wait to hear more. Take care!!!
4th March 2014

Alcohol, yes, but what kind?
True, I could have brushed with the booze, and honestly, if I did it enough, I probably wouldn't care how my teeth looked. Thanks for the comment. My biggest goal with this blog was to let my friends know I made it safely.

I, too, remember that trip very well. It turned out to be the only time that I traveled with students out of the country. I remember that I liked the Olympic Building very well, and the old cathedral. I also liked shopping in old Montreal city, though it wasn\'t the underground mall. I also remember a nice coffee mug, which I still have, that mysteriously appeared outside the chaperones\" door. It was from Pere Noel. I also remember talking to you after some of your free time, and you all told me that you had had a wonderful time riding all over the city on the subway. I found reading your blog very touching, and I am happy to think that I may have helped spark even a little bit of the \"travel bug\" in you. Although most of my recent travels have been inside the United States, I find the thought of a good road trip to be most enjoyable. So, with love, I say \"Bon Voyage\" and travel safe!

Look at that Coiffure!
To think if teenage Brendan knew of the adventures that he would be going on as adult Brendan in these pictures. Thanks for sharing B, miss you!

I know, so much hair!!
Where did the time, and hair go?? I don't think teenage Brendan really knew where all he was going to go, but he was open and ready. I miss you too. Too bad Adult Brendan can't manage to make it up to Portland. Ugh.

Jealous
Is it wrong that I am so jealous of my world traveling friend?
26th December 2013

I Don't Think So
I don't think so Patty, but then again perhaps I am biased. I just wish I were able to see even more of the world, but hopefully in time. Yet of all the trips I take, the ones back to Ohio are some of my favorites.

I have to agree with you. I hadn't looked at this blog for a long time, so seeing this again made me remember how incredible it was.

Just read this one again
What a foodie fiesta! You need to take advantage of exploring these areas since you are so close.

You are so right!
Wow, looking back through these pictures makes me want some great food and wine experiences. I should head up that way again. We will have to pick a time and spend an afternoon sampling what the Valley has to offer.
27th March 2013

Oh, yeah
I'm Catholic and didn't know there's a St. Brendan. But I agree with you a 100%. What makes a travel experience truly rich are the good's along with some (just some) setbacks, and the unexpected, even some let downs. All up to us, the traveler, to take it all in and make it good!
28th March 2013

I had to look it up
I knew the basics about St. Brendan, but had to turn to the internet for more information. It was actually pretty interesting. Speaking of set backs, were you able to fix your camera? I remember reading in a recent blog that it died. Some set backs are harder than others, and that would be a very hard one. Thanks for the comment. I try to roll with whatever punches are thrown at me when I travel, as do you it sounds like.

Wonderful!
What a wonderful trip we have had! I loved it Brendan! Thank you for taking time to write and post pictures. I loved reading about each days adventures. Love, Connie
