THURSDAY 26th June. Thought I would clear all my relevant photos, and tomorrow, I may be bothered to catch up on all the prose that I have been unable to type in India. Fortunately, I have a load-a-notes to go from. [View Full Entry]

Another view of it!
Prayer flags.

WEDNESDAY 25th June. We are now back to Civilisation where the computers work; there are no frequent power cuts; the air conditioning works; the hot water is actually hot - and the plug in the bath keeps the water in!; the booze is free - well for 2 hours of the day, so it's a matter of drinking very quickly!; and the pool is great. Mind you it's only 45+C out there but I brought a vest with me! Now I have good Internet access, and I'm chilling out after being up at 12,000' for 6 days , I can depress [View Full Entry]

17th June. Having major problems with the Internet for the last 7 days, so now I am right out-of-date with all my notes. I thought I would at least try to load my photos to-date but that will be a lot easier said than done on this machine! [View Full Entry]

Cannabis.

Despite the heading, I am way behind on the blog thanks to poor electricity supplies, poor hotel Internet connections, and no Internet Cafes. Thursday, 12 June. It seems there's only one or two people out there reading my useless blog despite my having nominated heaps of Subscribers! We were based at Manili in Himachal Pradesh on the .Thursday. Certainly the scenery was beautiful Manili is in a valley of the Western Himalayas, and some peaks can be seen very clearlywith their snow and glaciers. The whole region is covered by hotels most with metal corrugated roofs. The area is like another [View Full Entry]

Spotted on the drive to Manali - actually in an open zoo!
WEDNESDAY 11th June. Got another dose of the squits after eating in a local resaurant this afternoon. Hopefully, my 3 Imods + 2 Flagyl 400s will do the business - if I stop the blog midsentence, you will be able to guess as to the reason! We had another thunderstorm last night, and heavy rain persisted until 10:00 by which time we were an hour on our way up north to Manali. The drive took 8 hours by car but we went on a detour to visit a temple that had been recommended by Jane. It's the best Buddhist temple we [View Full Entry]

TUESDAY 10th June Well, I'm on the Internet at last, having waited for hours for that wife of mine to do her stuff! "I'lll be very quick as I can type faster than you!" Aye, that'll be right. By the time she had come up to relieve me, I'd done all the packing, and everything! Well, you can believe that if you want to! Alison developed a chesty cough 6 days ago. I advised her to start an antibiotic straight away but true to a wife's prerogative, she chose to ignore my advice. It was 3 days before I elicited from [View Full Entry]

Monday 8th June. I am hopelessly mixed up with the dates, so if I am wrong, I apologise! We had a dreadful thunderstorm last night, and the pounding of the rain was made a lot worse by the tin roof on the White Haven. But this place is a dream. The surroundings could not be more beautiful, and the views of the Eastern Himalayas are superb. This morning however, a mist came down, and obliterated everything when I went out for a stroll at 7.30 am. After brekky, the sun tried to come out, and by the time we joined our [View Full Entry]

Kangra Fort.
A little lad with a swastika on his head,
A load-a-budders!

Saturday 7th June. Today we are in the hills again having left the scorching plains of India. It took us 6 hours of travelling by car, the 200 ks to Dharamsala. We drove on very busy roads often pitted with pot-holes, and in quite a few places the road had all been partially washed away by last year's monsoon. Our driver, Dal is careful and slow! I reckon I could have got here in half the bleeding time had I been driving! Anyway, we got here safely at 3pm. As soon as we entered Himachal Pradesh from the Punjab we noticed [View Full Entry]
