its this awesome every day. while you're reading this, i'll be in the lake!
Hey Hey Hey!! Hope you guys are all well! It’s been a little while since I last checked in! I left you in Lilongwe, newlywed! I’ll pick up from there! Married life was great fun, We spent our ‘honeymoon’ eating pizza and ice cream at Mama Mia’s, an absolute gem of an Italian restaurant nestled away behind poinsettia trees in the sleepier districts of Lilongwe’s old town, so well hidden it took us two days to find it. At some point between pizza, powers spirit, hangovers and lazy days in the sun I spotted a poster looking for volunteers. Now, way [View Full Entry]

Moni!!! Muli bwanji?? (that’ll be ‘Hello! How are you’? in chechewa... ) Greetings from Monkey bay, Malawi! Hope you guys are all well, apologies to James for the length of the last blog, I’ll try to keep this one down to a lunch hour, snack size! So! It’s been a while again! I left you guys with the cliff-hanger of Zimbabwe... Fortunately, I lived to tell the tale, I’ll begin.... Saying goodbye to George and Naomi was a bit of a killer. I’d lived with them for pretty much every waking hour of that month. I felt a little empty waving [View Full Entry]

Jumping into the front seat of a taxi in Livingstone town centre I offered the driver 30,000 kwatcha for a ride to the waterfront. “40,000” was his reply, as I knew it would be. I spied a Lionel Richie cassette tape sat on the dashboard. “40,000, but we listen to Lionel Richie all the way” “Deal!” Two minutes later we were hurtling through town, the mist of Victoria Falls hanging across the horizon. The driver was bellowing into his cell phone as we approached a police road block. Spotting the minor offence and the opportunity for a quick s [View Full Entry]

hello hello hello! Well I’m in love, Head over heels. If it caught my eye in Jo’Burg, revealed its beauty in the Drakensberg and Transkei, showed its wild side in Coffee bay, its sophistication in PE, its lust on the garden route, its stunning fusion of cultures at every stage and all of the above in cape town -South Africa has stolen my heart and danced my soul all the way to the stars, in a mere 3 months. I’d joyously relive every kilometre of bumpy road and every night of fractured sleep in a tent that transformed from a sauna [View Full Entry]

Hey hey hey! Hello again! Hope life is treating you all well! Chris, you got your ticket to Cape Town yet? It’s going to be wild! Anyways, left you guys in Natures Valley where we spent another night on the deck under the stars. The guys who ran the lodge were really cool, they dug John Butler and Xavier Rudd so I grabbed my hard drive and shared some songs with them which we played over the sound system. I was loving the lodge and didn’t really want to leave so soon, but time presses on and we have to keep [View Full Entry]

19th March, Nature’s Valley, Garden Route Hey hey hey!!! How are you guys doing? Hope all is well!! So... it would seem i’ve gone and broken my foot, which was a bit silly and wholly inconvenient! It was way back in Coffee Bay, surfing. I caught a wave and surfed the white water all the way to the shore and stubbed a toe hopping off. It hurt like hell at the time but I didn’t get a bruise or any swelling to show for my pain so I figured it would soon pass. It didn’t and has eventually swollen. Obviously a [View Full Entry]

sawubona!!! (that'd be hello in zulu!) 2nd Feb, Soweto Hello again!!! Where did i leave you guys? Oh yeah, hung-over! Or at least Becky was. That was how she spend most of the day, so we took it easy, kicking back in the gardens under the shade of a big old tree. I took my camera out to try and get some photographs of the birds, they are quick little buggers though! Managed to catch the sun a little more than i would have liked, forgot about the back of my neck when i was getting busy with the sun cream. [View Full Entry]

Hello from the southern hemisphere, the water really does go the other way! Hey folks! I’m here! After 27 hours of tubes, trains, planes, airports and taxi’s we’ve got ourselves checked in at the Backpackers Ritz, a pretty cool little hostel in the northern suburbs of the city. The journey here was pretty hard work, though not without its highlights! Firstly getting off the train at Heathrow and finding Pops waiting there for us was a fantastic surprise! I very nearly filled up! Taking off from Athens airport at one in the morning the city looked amazing, as we [View Full Entry]
