Oh my gosh, this is the most beautiful place in the world. Five little cliff top villages set on the most picturesque coastline, dotted with beautiful beaches, marinas and fisherman. Ive hiked between all 5 and had the most delicious gelati. Spending the evenings relaxing on the rocks with a whole bunch of fellow busabouters and watching the shooting stars cross the sky, even if it did happen 70 years ago. It really is a place where dreams come true. I have some great housemates whom have cooked up the most fantastic dinners, risotto and salads etc. I just cant explain the beauty of the cinque terre, the greatest place to relax, snorkel and enjoy.... read more

So Florence has been a beautiful small medieval city in comparison with the gigantic Rome. Enjoyed just wandering around from viewing point to market to little stalls. Didnt even go to see the real statue of david but there are replicas all over.... read more

So much sightseeing to do and endless hordes of tourists. Met an interesting guy Paolo who was quick to tell me lots of interesting info about the Trevi Fountain but when it came to meeting up again that night i was quick to escape back to the safety of the campsite! So amazing some of the monuments. Rome has outsourced all of this particular type of marbel in the world from egypt and what not so it can now only be found in the ruins. Interesting place.... read more

Ah the beautiful Venice. The canals and sinking colourful houses certainly do have a kind of magic to them. The night we arrived Cam and I went straight to Venice, as our campsite is 4km out from the city. They have a really good shuttle bus though. We were sitting on the steps of an old library when the hawkers trying to sell roses came past. Offering them to Cam, he questioned "No...why?" and I said "Because I'm not worth it" in a sarcastic tone. The italian guy didnt understand but it turned out these Aussies from Perth behind us did and laughed. So we ended up spending the night with them until we had to catch our bus back. It was great they were really interesting people and raved about Perth! The next day I ... read more

Have had a brief one night stop in Budapest after 2 nights in Lake Balaton where there was only bad weather. I did however get to sample some delicious hungarian. A lentil dish with veal stew that was so yum and hearty. At balaton we went on a big adventure to get ingrediants to make pancakes but when we got back and id made the mixture, the hotplate decided to die. So I went searching and found a bbq type thing, where with the help of the Hungarian gardener who chopped me some kindling, I made a fire. The pancakes were delicious but the pan suffered a bit in the process! Budapest is beautiful and I managed to walk and see quite alot in the brief time I was here. Really enjoyed the castle in the ... read more

Well certainly the new tourist hub of the East. So many people crammed into the old part of town. The prague castle was expansive and gorgeous and walking for a few kilometres in the other direction I was able to find a random church up on a hill with some embattlements overlooking the river which was very beautiful. The main highlight of Prague was probably the people we met. A couple of aussies, Melinda and Nathan, as well as 3 Brits who we spent countless hours playing cards, watching them drink and eventually regurgitate copious amounts of Absinth, as well as going to numerous bars on our quest for a night out. Roxy was a cool converted theatre that we went to a couple of times. Cam and I also went to see the Worlds Fastest ... read more

Took a short bus ride to the infamous Auschwitz. It was very eerie and surreal place to visit. Unbelievable the amount of destruction caused at this one place. Auschwitz was much smaller than I imagined as half of it had been burnt by the retreating nazis. Birkenau was very clinical in the way that each block was precisely laid out. The train leading up the centre to the gas chambers. Its hard to comprehend as you walk down that same path that lead so many to their murders. ... read more

We arrived to some scorching humidity and trecked a very short distance to our hostel. It is small and really quaint and fantastic. We are on the second floor and have our own little kitchenette, computer with the internet, tv, couch, table and set of bathrooms. So far we havent seen anyone else on this level. We can also go to the level below for a bigger kitchen and help from the really friendly staff. She even did my washing for me, for free! Kind of wishing we were staying longer because there is so much to see in gorgeous little Krakow but we werent even going to come here at all as busabout doesnt. Its much more catering for tourists than Warsaw. as we left the station there were about 10 different tourist booths advertising ... read more

Today was a massive day of walking. First we went over to discover old town. Actually there is nothing old left but what has been recreated is very beautiful and well made, just not quite the original character of the city. Heading on through to new town we went to the prison which has now been destroyed. There is one small pillar still standing. It was really interesting. During the war it held 100 000 Polish people, 37 000 were killed with most of the rest going to other concentration camps and marched from the Gestapo headquarters further up the road. We then went to the Warsaw Uprising museum which is the best museum Ive ever been to. The whole thing was set up so well with interactive exhibits, memorabilia and heaps of information we ended ... read more

Arrived in Warsaw at 8,30am. The first thing that really struck me was that noone speaks English. Up until now it ahd been so easy. So when Chris went up to information he had to hold up the lonely planet guide and point. We ended up finding the bus after speaking to a multi lingual homeless person near the bus stop. The three of us went for a stroll around Warsaw, saw some strutting guards before heading down to the river to get some funny photos with some strategically placed pink deer. I dont think Ive laughed as much on this trip as I did today. It was great just letting the good old Aussie humour run rampant while muching on a bbq chicken and rolls in the park. Found a nice big church and had ... read more
