Early start this morning, truck packed up and away for 8, 4 hour drive to lake Nakuru where we'll be spending 1 night, quite a bumpy ride but was good to pass bamboos and zebras on the side of the road, stoped to look at view of the great Rift Valley.. Campsite ok, had lesson on how to pitch tent and were given our rota, my daily task was doing the cooking fortunate they must have had a tip off about my cooking because my help wasn't needed. After lunch we boarded the truck for our first game drive. We did see 2 of the big 5, rhinos & buffalo's, no lions but there's time yet, lots of zebra's, baboons, impala's, Thompsongazelle's ,jackal's & warthogs so not a bad day in all, was good to see ... read more

Brilliant day! Started with getting a wake up call from reception asking is there anything I wanted to do today quickly got ready and ran down booked to do elephant orphanage & giraffe sanctuary. Met a couple of girls in reception Sarah & Sarah who were doing the same tour as me who were also doing the trips. Elephant orphanage was great baby elephants from 9 month old, most of them were saved when there parents had been killed by poachers we watched them being bottle fed milk they were all very lively & playful. Older elephant then came out again all had different stories as to how they had come to be there. At the giraffe sanctuary we were given little pellets of food and were allowed to feed them, very gracious animals. Back at ... read more

Just arrived at my hotel in Kenya after quite a long flight which may I say was lovely, flew with klm flight staff were lovely, got totally spoil with food, drinks & treats. Hotel quite nice, room more like an apartment 2 double beds & kitchen no idea who I'll be sharing with tomorrow night as part of a group trip but at least tonight I have room to myself. Quite funny in taxi when driver said we might see some zebras crossing the road and I replied yeah we have zebra crossings in England, didn't realise he meant real zebras, no wonder he went quiet.... read more

Well after the trekking in the mountains we decided to just spend the last couple of days chilling and relaxing in the sunshine. We went to the new water park just outside of Marrakech, luckily (yep luckily) as it was out of season most of it was closed but what was open was the lovely peaceful 'quiet pool' where we spent the day just soaking up the rays and swimming, no children, no noise it really was bliss. The whole place was very well set out and I can imagine that it would be a brilliant place to take children in the main season. We then went back to our hotel where we met up with a couple that we're staying at our hotel(Jean & Bob) and the 4 of us went out for a few ... read more

Have just spent the most amazing 2 days trekking the Atlas Mountains, let me start from the beginning. Del & I got picked up from our hotel at 9am on Wednesday morning, after a hour and a half in a taxi we were dropped off in a small Berber village at what we thought was our 'hotel' not a bad place but much to my dismay no en suite, Mohamad, our guide then arrived and introduced himself and informed us that as soon as the 'Donkey' was packed we would be leaving, we did ask if we should put our things in our room but were informed that we wern't actually staying there?? Once 'Donkey' was packed, with our bag, we then set off, following Mohamad and Donkey and a young lad leading Donkey. We proceeded ... read more

Well just spent last couple of days in Marrakech and what a different couple of days it has been. We're staying at the Moroccan House Hotel which is very authentic, its more like a raid than a hotel, the rooms are so over the top with four poster bed and lots of drapes, it doesn't serve alchol but like true Brits we discovered the hotel over the road does lol. Staff are lovely and really helpful. We spent a lot of time in the Medina and Souks, which are about a 20 minute walk from the hotel. The Souks are amazing they are just an endless maze of tiny market stalls selling everything from handbags to lights and all at Asda prices (or so they try to tell you) they seem to go on forever and ... read more

Well all good things must end and I can't believe that I have been home for a full week, we spent the last night on Koh Samui where we caught our flight to Bangkok to get our flight home. The whole experience was fabulous and I wouldn't hesitate to do it all again. Thailand has something for everyone and I must admit I did contemplate staying on longer cos there was so much more I wanted to see but I knew my family would send the men in the white coats to find me and fetch me home lol. Despite what I was lead to believe before I visited the country Thailand is a very friendly and safe place to travel to and I was amazed at how many young people were travelling solo and were ... read more

Well after much deliberation!!!!!!!!!!!!! 1 minute!!! we moved resorts, dont get me wrong the last one was very nice and really friendly but!!! Ibiza!!............. Got a jeep to next place, well not really a jeep but in England it would be called a pick up truck, the roads were amazing, again in England not called roads but dirt tracks, it was a great journey. We are now in a place called 'Black Tip", again its so lovely only the pics will describe it. Our new house actually has a roof on, first one ever how posh, but we have to share a bathroom but how lucky are we as we have no one to share it with. Last night we walked to the next beach where we ate Baraccuda and King fish, must admit didn't really ... read more

Phew! a few busy days or not as the case may be! last time I wrote we had just had a manicure (not recommended as chipped the very next day! well it was only 2 pound). Stayed put on paradise for the next 2 days where we soaked up the sun, watched Thai dancing, had a full body massage (no, not a Thai one!!) which was actually very nice, they are so very thorough even massaging your ear lobes (but not your vital bits may I add) and we found the most lovely contempory restaurant that was run by a lovely English girl and her Thai husband (Luna) the food was excellent but a bit hot for my delicate taste buds lol. The head waiter on the resort was called 'Boy' and the head girl was ... read more
