Hello everyone... It has been exactly a month since I left you all in the hopes of finding something better...and guess what? I think I have...sorry mom and dad, but no more law school for me...I'm going to fulfull my lifelong dream (3 week long dream) of becoming a SE Asia tourguide (that is, after I open my own bar in Laos...the place with the tubing)...................am I joking? Perhaps... Anyway (s), it seems like everything has come full circle, as I'm in the Hong Kong airport waiting for my flight home (I think i will be able to get on an [View Full Entry]

Once again, reporting live from Hanoi, Vietnam, this is Matt Stein. Sorry I've been out of commission for a few days (no, I have not been watching Knocked Up repeatedly on HBO because it's the only channel that we get in english and I love repetition). We returned this morning from spending a lovely 24 hours in a boat (mom, you wouldn't have minded...no rocking back and forth) on Halong Bay. For you trivia buffs out there, Halong Bay literally means 'Bay of Descending Dragons.' Why does it have this name? Why don't you tell me. I don't have time to [View Full Entry]

Hello, Matt Stein here again for your reading pleasure. Before I begin, I'd like to provide you with some background information about the author... In West Philadelphia born and raised, on the playground is where I spent most of my days. Wait...wrong intro. Dammit. In case you'd like a visual, I'm sitting in my boxers in my four star air conditioned hotel room in Hoi An after just having returned from day of snorkeling and beaching. Before I fill you in, as always, a few quick things. 1. I know you have all been worried about the tragic (yes tragic) loss/breaking [View Full Entry]

Hi there neighbor (Mister Rogers greeting), I'm sitting in my hotel room in Ho Chi Minh city, having just returned from a two day trip to the Mekong Delta (in Southern Vietnam...details to come, so hold your horses). It's been a few days since I've written to you all, but please don't be alarmed or take it personally (except for a select few who will remain nameless...Hal). I know I promised fun and funny, but as I sat down to write this entry, I found an error message on my camera. It is fucking broken. We had a great run, making [View Full Entry]

Hi From Siem Reap! We arrived here via plane this morning, and there is much to tell. However, I'd like to dedicate this entry entirely to our visit to the Killing Fields and the Genocide Museum in Phnom Pehn, as I feel that this experience deserves its own entry (it's not always fun and games I guess). That being said, I also plan to be very detailed, as I'd like to try and articulate how moving and powerful all of these things were (this is more like a warning...). As I mentioned in the last blog (and as many of you [View Full Entry]

Coming to you live from Phnom Penh, this is Matt Stein... Once again, a few quick housekeeping things before we get started. First, thanks again for all of the comments (especially mom and dad, who, with their lightning fast responses, are certainly making me look cool...). Hayley, your description of Tuk Tuks are correct. They are sketchy. Other Haley - glad to know you are thinking about me when you are awake at night. So............moving on then. We left off in the city of Luang Prabang, where the highlights were the elephants and the kayacks. After a quiet night (in [View Full Entry]

Hello Again, A few things before I start. 1. To all those who wrote me private messages - Thank you. BUT - I will not respond to these, not because I don't want to, but because I just don't have the time. I'm a busy man. Please post 'comments' instead, so that everyone can read them and we can all get to know each other more intimately. 2. You might notice that my beautiful but sometimes messy roommate commented on my numerous spelling errors. This will improve immediately. Now for the good stuff (and this is a long one, so all [View Full Entry]

Hello Again, For all of you who have been tirelessly checking for a new blog update, I appreciate your enthusiam and loyalty. For those of you who haven't...you will hear from me seperately, as I may be asking some of you for letters of recommendation after law school, and I don't want to say anything that may come back to bite me. Also, special thanks to Hayley, Mary, Elana, Jon, Balaban, and Wonton for your thoughtful comments. Now for the good stuff. I've been in Thailand for 3 days, and each day has been go go go go go stop go [View Full Entry]

Hello Friends, Family, and others who I just added to be nice... Ever wonder what it's like to wake up in alone in very strange place halfway around the world?... Scary. But back to that later... I know that many of you enjoy lots of details, so I will do my best. Our story begins in terminal 7 of JFK International Airport. Moving forward, I will refer to it as the "fancy terminal (because it is home to fancy airlines, including mine, Cathay Pacific)." After a delicious sandwich (salami and swiss), I wandered the airport until the gate opened, the plan [View Full Entry]
