The schools were all on half term for the next to weeks, so instead of going to school to coach we held coaching courses in a local field/ pitch. So for the next 2 weeks we were doing coaching 10til11 then wed go home for an hour break have some lunch etc then head back for a second session 12til1! The first week was quite good we had about 10/ 15 kids turn up most days so we tended to split them into footbal and rugby (these were the most popular options!). Some days we just concentrated on one of the 2 so some days me and lucy were learning with the kids how to play rugby etc! . Ive come to the conclusion this isnt my sport! These sessions usually ended (to the kids disgust ... read more
were now on fiji time!... )this is an actual thing- its all very relaxed does it get much better?! We got off the plane and was we walked into a wall of heat! We arrived at about 8 at night and still boiling hot :) once we walked through to baggage we were welcomed by about 5 guys in bula skirts and flowers playing a guitar and singing! how cool is that!. We found our madventurer people and then short van ride to our house. You always know its going to be a good journey when the van has a monkey for a gear stick ( that is a very weird sentence!) . Aman is the van driver,we were in amans van (it never gets boring) he drives us to coaching, eds bar etc and ... read more
The flight from jo-berg wasnt half as bad as wed thought even went quite quick! Really didnt get any sleep though! The day we arrived we got here about 3ish we basically just chilled. On the tuesday we did some retail therapy :) and generally explored- we discovered sydney has some gooood shopping! Got quite a few bits and pieces - i knew i bought my credit card for a reason!:) We then went to chinatown for dinner in the evening! The hostel is really nice its massive and we have key cards etc to get around. Its in a great place everything is in walking distnace basically. So we walked the 10min walk to china town! Was really quite deserted there :S got some good chinese though, alot of sorbet and had a bit of ... read more
It was a very long boring drive to livingstone- took ages at one point it took us just over 4 hours to go about 60km - the roads were that bad! The first day spent the day at vic falls which are absolutely amazing- especially from all the rain got the most amount of water for 50years! managed to stand about 10m from the edge which was great the water moves sooo fast (typical lack of african health and safety barriers there!!) and we went on a bridge right infront of the falls where all the mist is and literally got DRENCHED couldnt see there was just so much water! I had to scream for rachael at one point oi thought i might be stuck there forever! Plus i then nearly slipped - again not good.We ... read more
its still raining in malawi... We were glad to be leaving malawi soon. However we soon hit another road block - teh lake had flooded a whole part of the road so yet again we were waiting around for numerous hours for as the officials said 'rain to stop and road to dry up' - as if that was going to happen soon! after a few hours isaac clearly got bored and decided to go for it- turned out teh water wasnt that deep but coudl feel the pull of the river as we drove along the road crossing the flow!. The next stop was the capital (apparently madonna was there somewhere trying to adopt) we on the other hand were at the post office trying to send stuff home- which it turned out was more ... read more
There may be a few of these.... So very very very early start- i.e. about 4 in the morning- and it just happens to be my birthday!!!!! great start :S. Slept for a good few hours on the bus. This birthday turned out to be very unexciting. We were in the truck driving for a total of about 12 hours. YAY. We got to camp all absolutely knackered- amanda paid for an upgrade for my bday (we got a bed instead of a tent!) it was very much appreciated about 6 of us crashed in one very small room (Steve snored alot) had a few birthday drinks from people and luce bought me a piece of choc cake :) then bed about half 10 - no one not even me was really in the mood for ... read more
CONTD. I forgot to mention on the way back from the Serengeti we stopped at a Massai Village. It was really interesting to see. They all wore African robes and had a lot of piercings. They perfomed a local tribal song for us and then held a competition which they do which involves jumping they chant and see who can jump the highest. was really interesting to see, probably sounds really stupid but they can jump really high! We then got shown into their houses. They were TINY mud huts- they had a fire inthe middle for cooking- apparently they smoke themselves out easily! Then they have tiny platforms with cow skins on for beds- the house is only about 3m by 3m absolutely tiny but its amazing how they make it. The houses are all circled ... read more

ACCRA TO CAPE COAST! Last tuesday we moved from our house in Accra to the second largest city - Cape coast. We got dropped off at a heaving bus station with all our big backpacks and had to sit on a hot tro tro for a bout an hour and half in midday sun waiting for it to fill! lucky there were loads of people walking around to buy biscuits off :) . After about a 2n half hour journey we arrived in Capecoast but there was no one to pick us up! eventually our temp leader eric turned up in a normal 5 seater taxi for us 4 girls our many big bags himself and the taxi driver! it was a bit of a squeeze and the boot didnt close so we had to cling ... read more
