Europe » Austria » Vienna » Vienna June 4th 2012

Greetings everyone! We decided to spend an extra day in Vienna so I write to you aboard an overnight train from Vienna to Switzerland. To be honest, I really didn’t know a whole lot about the city of Vienna before coming, except the fact that every single person I knew who had been there absolutely loved it. My immediate impression of Vienna is the opulent ambiance of the city. Compared to Berlin and Prague, there was this grand nature to the city, which made it both exhilarating and intimidating. Vienna was by far the most expensive city we had been to yet, and this was exemplified by our very first meal in the city. We had reached Vienna around 9 PM and by the time we had reached the hostel and settled, it was close to ... read more

Europe » Czech Republic » Prague » Old Town May 27th 2012

It’s Sunday and I write to you via the EC train from Prague to Vienna. So far the train situation has worked well for us, the Eurail pass was a good investment and the best part is we don’t have to make reservations in advance we just hop on whichever train we want. It’s Day 6 into our journey and overall holding up well, the past 2 nights I got good sleep so I am rejuventated. My eating schedule is not the best, but that’s expected when you are traveling. I’m hoping that the hostel in Vienna has a tiny gym so I can get a little workout in, definitely feel like my body is a little out of shape. My budget is also under control I haven’t spent as much as I anticipated, but I ... read more

Europe » Germany » Berlin » Berlin May 27th 2012

Hallo ladies and gents! I’m currently on a train from Berlin to Prague and after 2 hours on the train I finally snatched a seat. The train was jam packed from Berlin to Dresden so Alvin and I had to stand up for the ride, which is not that comfortable when you’re running on 4 hours of sleep. I’m using the train rides to write my blogs, watch some shows, and catch up on some sleep.Today’s ride will only be 4.5 hours so it is one of our shorter journeys on this tour. So I spent the past 2 days in Berlin. Back stateside people were telling me that Berlin was like the Austin of Germany, except on a grander scale. I can definitely validate that claim after visiting, Berlin is a city where the banality ... read more

Hey everyone! I write to you via the ICE train from Rotterdam to Berlin, which is about a 6 hour journey. Unfortunately, there is no wi-fi onboard this train so I’m writing this entry on Word and will post it once I can access some internet. The flight over here was mediocre, the on-demand movies were mildly entertaining, but I felt hungry throughout most of the flight. Apparently, United Airlines feels that a croissant and some fruit alone is suffice for breakfast, so that was a bit of a letdown. Once we landed in Amsterdam we were greeted by Ruud, Arnaud, and Bert. It was great seeing Ruud and Arnaud after 6 months, and in the case of Bert it had been 18 months. Aside from the fact that we weren’t in Austin, it felt like ... read more

North America » United States » Texas » Sugar Land May 20th 2012

Hey Everyone! This will be my official blog for my upcoming Eurotrip! Currently, I'm back home in Sugar Land and the A/C is not working on the second floor, so I'm trying to utilize every single fan in the house to cool me down. Packing is going well, just have a few little errands to run in the morning and I should be good to go. Needless to say that the euphoria of graduation still has not waned, but tomorrow I will officially shift gears and be ready to embark on hopefully the best trip I have ever been on. Let's....get...rollin'...!!!... read more
