After North Queensland we set off South towards our next major stop, Fraser Island. Before we got there we managed to catch up with our friends who are travelling round the world for a year. We caught up with them in time for Steph's birthday and spent a great day on the beach getting in some kiting as well. (Thanks for making my birthday really special guys, great bbq!) We stayed near the pretty town of Hervey Bay for one night before catching the ferry across to the largest sand island in the world! Fraser Island is out of this world! The sand is the whitest, the water the bluest and the Jeep Wrangler we hired was the best toy in the world! We had a brilliant (if a little bumpy) three days exploring the 150 ... read more

"Totally Tropical!" Wow Australia really is the land of diversity. Ayres Rock, the red centre in the morning, jump on a plane, and we arrive in a tropical paradise with palm trees along the beaches and rain forest covered mountains down to the sea. We spent the "arvo" wandering round Cairns city. It just doesn't feel like Australia here it's just to lush, tropical, humid and mountainous to be the same country! Cairns city was not as big as I expected but it is very touristy with loads of places offering tours and gifts etc. This wasn't a bad thing, us being tourists. The surrounding scenery around cairns is breath taking giving us both itchy feet wanting our campervan to get out into the rainforest and up the coast. Next day we picked up our VanperCan ... read more

Uluru Blog: We made it to the "Heart of Australia"! It was and odd feeling leaving WA, sad on one hand after having such a fantastic time and having to say good bye to Auntie Pam, but excited on the other as we knew what was ahead was going to be all totally new to us both. The flight from Perth to Ayers was great. So wide and vast! The resort itself was a surprise. Not what we expected out in the middle of no where. 5 very nice hotels with swimming pools, shops, restaurants etc.. We were so glad we waited till we got here to book all the tours. If your planning on coming here don't book until you arrive it will save you money and will give you loads more options to choose ... read more

Here we are again back from our trip up north with loads more piccies and over 3500 miles under our belt! We had a fantastic time on the North West coast managing to reach as far as Exmouth. The North West was very different from the south west looking more typically Australian the further we went. It was very beautiful with its vast open spaces, Wild West style canyons, tropical turquoise seas and arid bushland. The roads are straight, flat and very long. The further north we headed the less cars we passed so much so that it becomes an event to see other cars, thus everyone waves to each other as they pass! The road trains also get longer the further away from town you travel. These huge trucks pull three or more massive trailers ... read more

Phew! Back to civilisation! For those of you who know our itinerary may have noticed we have just arrived back from the North West. Well here is our blog from the south west as we didn’t get time to update in between. Oh.. such a busy, hard life we lead! Not! Ok, well the south was great and (as we now know) very different from the north! The south west is not what springs to most people’s minds when they think of Australia. It’s very picturesque with rolling hills, dramatic costal cliffs, green, huge forests and mountain ranges. The weather held out for the most part but you may spot the odd cloudy photo. We started off our trip from Perth and headed through Bunbury to Busselton. Busselton is a great little sea side town famous ... read more

Our week around the Perth area. Yippee! We have arrived in Perth WA! Wow it’s so gorgeous here! Sun, sun, sun, everyday, coupled with Perfect endless beaches we really do feel like we have found paradise! When we arrived here we felt great ‘cause due to our Singapore stopover, no jet lag! So after Auntie Pam picked us up, it was straight down to the beach to catch a golden West Australian sunset! Tuesday we caught the train (which runs down the middle of the motorway) into the big city. We took one of those open top buses around the city and up to Kings park (the biggest city park in the world) and then caught the ferry across to the zoo. Wednesday we spent the day catching waves at Scarborough (not the uk one!) Thursday ... read more

WOW Singapore! Hi everyone and welcome to our new “Travel Blog” this is our first entry so here goes… As part of our trip to Australia we decided to include a stop-over in Singapore to break up the journey and to see somewhere completely different! WOW, what a city! Don’t really know what we where expecting but what we got was soooooo much better! Clean, clean, clean! I have never seen a city so clean and tidy before. Very modern and sleek with everything feeling high tech and up to date but sill has enough colonial architecture to remind you of the country’s history. For such a highly populated city there was so much green. Trees line most streets, buildings have surrounding gardens, bridges are covered with climbing plants and even all the crash barriers on ... read more
