The snow in Bariloche was getting pretty terrible so Owen and I went to Esquel to try out Cerro La Hoya. We met a couple skiers at the hostel who said the best way to get to the hill was to hitchhike. The alternative was a 60 pesos bus ride, which didn’t sound nearly as cool as hitchhiking. The hill was icy and they had the backside of the mountain closed because there weren’t enough people around. So we went and checked out the local watering hole, and accidentally missed our 9 AM bus. The first day we went up to the mountain it was too windy so we went over to Hotel Dinko to help them build their snowboard park. There’s a big group of locals that get together and build a park right next to the hotel. They do competitions and there’s a bar right next to it. Pretty sick setup! On Canada day we got about a foot of snow. It was insane! The terrain is a lot different than Canada. A lot of open runs and sweet cliffs, but not a lot of tree runs. Spending Canada day in winter was a different experience, but it felt right. The next couple days the mountain was closed to we just helped out with the snowboard park. The trip here was interesting. 49 hours of planes, airports and buses. Everything was going pretty good until the cab driver at the Buenos Aires airport tried to say I gave him 2 ten pesos bills instead of two hundreds. I should have learnt to say "give me back my money" in spanish. Probably with a few more F words in there, but i think i agreed not to swear on this blog site or I'd get kicked off. Eventually after me just saying no and two hundred a bunch of times he finally took me to the bus station. The bus station was a pretty interesting place, it was hard to take pictures from the bus but the station was surounded by some spretty interesting areas.
