Accommodation in Hoi An?
Hello over there! I was wondering if you can recommend any good place to stay in Hoi An? It looked like you really had a good time in the area and the pictures are very promising! We are looking for a small traditional place, preferably, nothing fancy. Would be great to get some advice. :-) Hanka

First pic of Yves!
That's the first pic of you Yves! I'm glad you are enjoying your trip. It is my turn now, though I am 120% sure I will not enjoy my trip to Japan as you have. You write remarkable blogs and I have enjoyed every single paragraph you wrote. Thanks to you, I feel like I was there and am taking a second vacation to Japan! Have a safe trip back! Yusuke

Angkor Wats
Thank you Yves for sharing your travel experience in Cambodia. I came to Minnesota, US in 1981 after most of my family members were wiped out during Khmer Rouge. I grew up in Phnom Penh City and i miss Cambodia so much. I tried to visit Cambodia every year for the last five years. I used to live in South Aurora, CO and I moved back to MN due to job changes. Thank you again for visiting Cambodia! Theary Kem Shoreview, MN

Hi, In the beginning of the 17th century there were about a hundred of Japanese people live in Hoi An. They did build that "Japanese bridge" and they named Hoi An "Faifoo." Happy travels!

The question is where? :-)

Convinced that you are from Vietnam...
Everything has your last name on it. :) Just curious, why is there a Japanese bridge there? Love the pic of the guy crossing the river on that bowl... Naturally, his arms are huge. LOL. Seems like Hoi An is definitely fitting for you with the drinks and food. Can't wait to see/hear more about this place!

I know, right? Today I found out that if the accent on the "a" is yet different, my last name means village. I have to check my origins. There is a Japanese bridge because of the traders that came to Hoi An from the South China sea. They built it.

Are you from Vietnam???
Yves, you write/travel like you've lived there for years. LOL! That sunset is beautiful, but I can't imagine that kind of heat and humidity... Must be much worse than Japan. LOVE the photos and stories of Dong Ba market. And yes, I'm going to see if I can go buy "Tiger" beer this weekend. :) :) :)

Did you see the huge billboard advertising Tiger beer in Hue? You'll have to let me know if you can find some and whether you actually like it.

Halong Bay!
So there it is! Halong Bay. You were JUST showing this to me right before your departure. Love the pic of the kid getting a hair cut (buzz), RIGHT on the street. That lady in the pic must be carrying lychee? It didn't take long for you to break your fresh fruit law there Yves! LOL!!! You were telling me Mimi and I about how hard it was going to be. Can't believe how much food you enjoyed for 75 cents! BTW, I'm not so sure you were born to be a sales person. I think you were born to be a travel writer! You write so damn well! Keep them coming!

The veggies and fruits are sooooo good, I could not resist. And my stomach isn't complaining at all either... :-) I think that when I come home, I'm going to look for a job with a travel magazine or something.

Eunuchs???
I do hope that you were spared having to become a eunuch in order to enjoy the visit to the Forbidden Purple City. No matter how lovely the city would be, that price is a bit extreme...

Hahaha, that would be indeed!

Thanks for taking the time to share so many details, Yves. The pictures are fantastic, too - I feel like I'm there. I'm loving those little dolls at the Temple of Literature! John

Wow! Simply wow!
Your photos are beautiful Yves. I LOVE your blog. This really makes me feel like I am there myself. Perfect for me! Finally in your video, did I really just see a guy on a moped fly right through a river of other mopeds/scooters flowing perpendicular to him? The traffic organization is non-existent!
