This weekend I am preparing for my trip to Indochina (Vietnam and Cambodia). You can see the full itinerary represented on a map in my profile.

I will be leaving on June 21st, flying from Denver to San Francisco, then Seoul, Republic of South Korea, and Hanoi, Vietnam. I will spend a couple of days in Hanoi, the oldest and one of the most attractive capital cities in Southeast Asia, before heading to Halong Bay, a magnificent UNESCO World Heritage site spread across 580 square miles with more than 2,000 pinnacle-shaped limestone and dolomite outcrops scattered across it, and staying on a boat and kayaking. After that, it is Central Vietnam with the Imperial City of Hue and its famous citadel modeled after the Forbidden City in Beijing, the royal tombs, a stroll along the coast through Danang, the Thu Bon river, and the old town of Hoi An, a major trading center, as well as the My Son Sanctuary for about a week. Then it is off to Saigon (Ho Chi Minh City), the largest city and commercial capital of Vietnam, and a boat trip to the Mekong delta in the Tien Giang Province, surrounded by orchards and rice fields. I will conclude my trip with a few days in Siem Reap, Cambodia, by visiting Angkor (Wat and Thom), the ancient capital of the great Khmer Empire and one of the most magnificent wonders of the world and a site of immense archeological significance. Then it is back to Denver through Saigon, Tokyo, and San Francisco.

I will try and update my blog on a regular basis, but may not always be able to in certain areas where Internet access is not a given.

Until next time...

Thank you Yves for sharing your travel experience in Cambodia. I came to Minnesota, US in 1981 after most of my family members were wiped out during Khmer Rouge. I grew up in Phnom Penh City and i miss Cambodia so much. I tried to visit Cambodia every year for the last five years. I used to live in South Aurora, CO and I moved back to MN due to job changes. Thank you again for visiting Cambodia! Theary Kem Shoreview, MN
