My day started off like many soon to come days; toast for breakfast with my host mom always wanting me to eat more, a walk through the park to the school, and the feeling of calming freedom. Although I was crying and having panic attacks the day before I left, I feel relaxed and know that this is where I am meant to be. I am finally able to confirm that the girl from China is real, and not just a rumor. Her name is Belinda and she learned English in Australia, but now lives in Hong Kong. She is here to work at a bank while learning Spanish. After meeting Belinda and breakfast, I met up with my classmates at Mester(the school). After 7 hours in layovers, crossing 6 time zones on one flight, trying to find 5 others in an airport without means of communication, 4 hour bus ride, 3 flights, 2 last minute gate changes, and 1 Alexis lugging around a heavy carry-on, I finally made it to Madrid. My travels started with me waking up at the horrible hour of 3 in the morning to go to the airport and catch my 6-o-clock flight. After many tears, goodbyes and I love you’s, and TSA pat downs, I finally arrived in Charlotte from Pensacola. Luckily I had about two hours to roam around; otherwise I would have missed where it said my flight gate had changed.
