When we arrived on Waylailai island we thought it was a little quiet and it turned out their were only 5 guests checked in that night. We spent most of the afternoon soaking up the sun and relaxing in the many hammocks they had around the lodge. We had three days and this would be the most relaxing of our time in Fiji. We woke early due to the hot temperatures and lack of air con and spent the entire day reading and sunbathing. It was spot on. We also met a volunteer from a local village, Ema, she was from Ireland and had been working in NZ before coming to Fiji for a holiday and ended up stopping on gthe island to teach kindergarden. She loved it but i do not think i could do ... read more

Hi all, Back again. Off to the lovely islands of Fiji. We got picked up at 7:30am and was transported by coach to port Denarau marina. We left almost straight away and landed on Bounty Island by 9:30am. It was paradise. well not quiet but it was lovely. We were in a massive dorm with 30 beds or so but we didnt mind. It was air conditioned and was the cheapest accomodation by far. The resort had a pool and loungers to relax. That day we sunbathed and took in the excellant weather and views. We booked 3 nights on Bounty Island, 2 in Octopus Bay and 3 at Wayalailai resort. The first 3 days flew over and we had sunshine every day. The only bad day was when we decided to go diving and the ... read more

We are on our way to warmer climates, woohoo!!! I couldnt wait. I had been looking forward to visiting Fiji since the beginning of our trip and after such cold weather in OZ i was ready for some beach time. It only took 3 hours to reach Nadi on mainland Fiji but the difference in temperature hit us as soon as we stepped off the plane. Nadi airport is only small so our bags arrived pretty quick and we walked out the doors to find a women who would take us to our hostel. We had booked to stay at nadi bay resort for 2 nites but did not have any plans arranged after that. We sat on a couch and waited for the rest of the people for our bus. Everybody coming from arrivals were ... read more

The morning we left Melbourne we set off in search of a train station, again Craig had me wandering around with my pack on not knowing which direction was the right one. We hopped on a train to the outskirts of Melbourne to pick up our Britz camper. We called her Britzy Murphy. We headed off in Murphy and nearly went straight back into the centre of Melbourne but we soon figured we were going in the wrong direction and corrected our course. Again im a bad navigator but craig didnt notice either. This journey was all about the Great Ocean Road. We had been waiting in Melbourne for a relocation to come up for Adelaide and one finally had. First we drove in the rain to Bells beach, this is where they filmed the end ... read more

So back to Sydney and our real look around the city as travellers . We booked into Base hostel in the city and it was very nice, clean and well situated, the only negative was that they did not have plug sockets in our dorm room, that we could find. At this point we did not have any set plans on what we were going to do next. We new we wanted to head to Melbourne and Phillip Island but anything after that was anybodys guess. On our first day we had a stroll down to Darling harbour and into the mall on the opposite bank. When we got back we headed next door to the scary canary bar for food and drinks. We waited so long that they stopped serving food and we had to ... read more

So we had finished our time working in Oz and were straight off to Alice Springs to see the red centre. We had a flight booked for early the next morning after our farewell dinner in Sydney. We woke early and walked to the domestic terminal from our hotel. We were slightly lighter than when we had previously travelled as we left about 10kg each at the farm. First we had to fly to Melbourne then change planes for a 3 hour flight to Alice. When we reached Alice it was considerably warmer and more humid. We were picked up by the hostel shuttle from Annies place and checked in by late lunch time. We had a stroll into the city centre to find out some information and had a wonderful lunch in Sporties. After lunch ... read more

We had a few drinking sessions whilst in werombi, Craig having more than me. It was Emmas biurthday whilst we were there and we headed out for a meal and a drink in the "The Crown" pub. We ended up having lots to drink and dancing crazily on the dancefloor. Again craig more wildly than myself. Lucky for us we had the next day off and slept til midday when Shane knocked us up wanting Craig to go play golf. We completed many interesting jobs whilst here and until now i did not know that Craig did not like heights. so of course Shane had him on top of the stables taking guttering down and sorting out the drainage on the buildings. Sometimes i would glance at him and he would have a worried look on ... read more

The weeks started to fly by and we worked our five days then had 2 days off. the first few days off we did not do much as we wanted to save our money but we window shopped at Penrith, Nerellan and cambletown and also baked lots of cakes and cookies. We learnt of "tightarse tuesdays" from the girls and we would go to the cinema for $10. Most nights we would cook in, Myself and Craig taking it in turns to cook and do the dishes. Towards the end of our time i do beleive io did most of the cooking and the girls did most of the dishes for Craig. Craigs philosophy was to leave the dirty dishes as long he could and hoipe they would clean themselves and he got away with that ... read more

Both myself and Craig took a shine to Gus and he eventually started to sleep in our flat on the settee, scamp however was like a watchdog at night and would not come inside incase any of the horses got into trouble. Most nights we slept soundly but on a few occasions a horse would become stuck in its box and scamp would start to bark until it got up itself or someone got up to help. He was good like that but it was slightly annoying having to get up in the middle of the night. Gus the poochy loved to ride on the quad bike with us so when we did the poo run on a morning there would be Gus on the seat, Craig driving standing on the foot space and myself holding ... read more

Sitting on the train i begin to get nervous. We have texted nikki and let her know we are on our way and she has sent one of the girls to pick us up. When we arrive at Cambletown station we wait for 10 mins before Rachel rocks up. I can see she is a little apprehensive at first as we dont know what eachother looks like and Craig doesnt look his most presentable with his long hair and growing beard. Later Rachel tells us she thought she was going to be murdered by the bearded English man. lol It takes us around an hour to reach our new home. For privacey reasons we will call this SERENITY PARK. We dump our bags in our crib and are introduced to Nikki, followed by Gus and Scamp ... read more
