Guning Kerinci As someone originally from Kerinci, i never dare to climb this mountain because so many mystic related to this mountain, and also i am not good at climbing (more to reason number two).
I love traveling but i haven't got into the top of a mountain that only 600 kms from where i am not.. what a shame !

Good luck with the rest of your indonesia adventure.. good writing ! :)
Jungle Trek Details We've had a few queries about this jungle trek. More information about Thomas's brilliant jungle tours can be found at: www.thomasjungletours.com
minor factual correction. G'day. I agree that the holiday situation re the Queen's birthday is amusing but actually, she is our queen too! Technically she is the Australian Head of State (not the prime minister) represented by the Australian Governor General. This is the source of discomfort for some and the Republican movement wants to change that. Personally, I agree with the Republicans, but what the hell, a day off is a day off!
Welcome home! I feel really sad at the thought of no more blogs. Can you keep it up but just fill us in on your life in general?!
It's been really brilliant armchair (or rather kitchen chair) travelling along with you. I've learnt quite a few new things and absolutely loved your photos.
3 year old son has especially loved all the animal pics - 'Wossat?' 'a penguin'
'I want a penguin'.
'Wossat?'
'A tortoise' 'I want a tortoise'
'Wossat?'
'Catherine on a beach'
'I want Catherine on a beach'
You get the idea
Good luck with your next adventure! xx
ps My little Pony has made a big come back while you've been away!
Brilliant Story I think this is my favourite of your blog entries. Your meeting with Christine Calderon sounds bizarre and though you probably felt cheated and annoyed at the time it will surely become one of those memories/stories that you cherish. No one likes a story about a nice beach - it's always the most frustrating times that become the repeated anecdotes.
welsh people Did you hear any Welsh being spoken in Patagonia? Bizarre but true fact is that there is a huge Welsh community there and Welsh is the common language. Honest, there was a programme on Radio 4 all about it!
sky high chewing coca leaves?! Catherine, is that not cocaine?! Still loving your blog and look forward to new installments.
I had a baby! A whopper of a girl, Isobel, weighing in at 9lb 15. I could do with some of them there leaves too...
xx
Boo! Oh no, what a bum about getting ill and having your camera stolen. I guess the way that you have to look at it is that at the end of your trip you'll still have 10 months worth of photos left which is a LOT!!! The excitement of the travel blog book will hopefully make up for it! Hope all is going well. Make the most of it, work is bum! x
Wow so you really did it! The Galapagos really look like they lived up to the hype. A once in a lifetime experience. Shame we couldn't enjoy it with you but pleased that you did get to go there - now you can give us tips for when we save up for it some time in the future!
Wowzers! Well done you good eggs!!!! It makes me feel bad that I never did any volunteering when I was away. Good work on drinking the bowl of chicha- I'd never had been able to manage that! I went one place where there was a chicha festival going on, but it was really embarrassing cos I thought it was a 'teacher' festival and they were just saying the word with a bad accent! I was like "Yey, I'm a teacher- a festival for me!!!"
Wowzers! OMG it looks so fab!!! I'm particularly lovin' the first pic- statues, sea and a horse, what more could a person ask for!?!?!
Looking forward (but also quite jealous) to read the next blogs for your South American adventure.
Buena suerte y felices viajes! xx

Mowgli & Shanti ! You two remind me of these two characters from "The Jungle Book"
They go off and have great adventures ,but they are only fiction ....yours is for real and every bit as interesting. The blogs are just getting better and better. They revive a memory of a radio program called "Letter from America" where once a week Alistair Cooke would narrate interesting events happening in the USA.How well I remember eagerly awaiting the the latest episode, and now that feeling of anticipation is with us again through these pages. The world is surely a truly wonderous and diverse place and we are happy that you can share it, in some small way, through these blogs.
Roll on the next episode.!!
Love to you both,
Mom & Dad xxxx
Tempting fate!!!!!!! I didn't expect to be answering the question 'What will be next?' quite so quickly, but just a quick update to let you know that I lost my wallet and all my cards a couple of days after posting this entry.
Hopefully not to be continued :-)
