(Matt)

It was pretty damn amazing when Sarah, Catherine's sister, bought us a round of drinks and requested a song via the internet from the other side of the world. We were both incredibly excited when the DJ read out our names and presented us with a voucher to spend at the bar (I was even more amazed that the technology exists to do this, but hey I have an inner geek!)

The song 'I don't feel like dancin' by scissor sisters couldn't have been more appropriate, generally with a load of tattooed tough looking biker and cowboy types standing around you don't tend to feel like cutting some moves on the dance floor!

I suspect that it got a bit boring to watch at home, a bit like 'Big Brother' with less happening and with the sound switched off, not a pleasant thought. For us it was a really strange experience, not knowing who (if anyone) was watching and being hyper aware not to do anything too embarrassing (apologies if I did!). It was interesting that at certain times, after a few beers, we forgot about the webcam before catching sight of ourselves on one of the monitors placed around the bar.

Here are some Alice Springs facts (I warned you about the geek thing!)

-It is 15,012 km / 9,328 miles away from England on the other side of the world
-Sits in the middle of a red sea of desert sand the size of Europe
- Has a time difference of 8 ½ hours ahead of England
- Has the best Saloon/Dining Room in the world

Note: Catherine now plans to apply for Big Brother 2009, Matt is retiring from life in front of the cameras and plans to become a hermit on his return to England.
