(Catherine and Matt)

We´re just about to head to the airport for our flight home, but before we go, we wanted to say thank you for reading our blog and for all your comments and emails throughout the year.

When we left London 12 months ago, with spotless backpacks and glowing white skin, we had no idea what was in store for us on our round the world trip. At times, it´s been frustrating, challenging and downright scary, but mostly it´s been exciting, surprising and lots and lots of fun. We could both write a thesis on our experiences but that would be quite boring for you to read, so instead we´ve put together some (hopefully!) interesting facts and figures from our year away.

We hope you´ve enjoyed sharing in our experiences and if you want to know more, we´ve got 12 months´ worth of stories we´d be happy to share over a drink or two! See you soon!

Top 10 Facts and Figures (it´s not that boring, honest!)

1) Number of countries visited: 20

2) Cheapest day (including accommodation & travel): Sop Chem, Laos = £13.79
Most expensive day: Sydney, Australia = £136.47 (it was our wedding anniversary though!)

3) Most listened to albums on our Ipods:
Matt: Grace - Jeff Buckley
Catherine: Life in Cartoon Motion - Mika

4) Number of rooms slept in: 129

5) First time we said ´We could live here´: Christchurch, New Zealand (7 months in)
First time we said ´I want to go home!´: Jaipur, India (10 days in)

6) Cheapest accommodation: Sop Chem, Laos = £1.62
Most expensive accommodation: Grand Bali Hyatt, Bali = Luckily we weren´t paying!

7) Total number of hits on our blog: 8400 (that means that the page has been opened, it hasn´t necessarily been read!)

8) Scariest moment:
Matt: Riding the bamboo railway in Cambodia (surprisingly not bungee jumping or cycling down the death road in Bolivia)
Catherine: Riding on the roof of a bus in Laos, the first time the camel stood up with me on it in India, flying to Isla Navarino in a tiny plane, when our guide dropped a baby crocodile in our boat in Bolivia, when we got caught up in a road block in Nepal, when our bus nearly tipped over in Indonesia...I could go on!

9) Total number of photos taken: 6000 (bet you can´t wait for the slide show!)

10) Things we missed the most (other than friends and family, obviously!):
Brown bread
Being understood
Cheese
Being allowed to put toilet paper down the toilet
Proper British pubs

THE END

Welcome home!
I feel really sad at the thought of no more blogs. Can you keep it up but just fill us in on your life in general?! It's been really brilliant armchair (or rather kitchen chair) travelling along with you. I've learnt quite a few new things and absolutely loved your photos. 3 year old son has especially loved all the animal pics - 'Wossat?' 'a penguin' 'I want a penguin'. 'Wossat?' 'A tortoise' 'I want a tortoise' 'Wossat?' 'Catherine on a beach' 'I want Catherine on a beach' You get the idea Good luck with your next adventure! xx ps My little Pony has made a big come back while you've been away!
