I tried Hello, John -- I tried to get it in green to match my eyes, but since the blue one was already available and Adrienne's eyes are blue, we took it.
Fabulous Pics! Looks like you ladies are having a fabulous time taking pics of some unbeliveable sites. Can't wait to look at some more when you get back home. Enjoy the rest of your trip and we'll see you soon!
Blue Mosque at Night What a delightful little crop failure! Could you ship two of those back for me? Does it come in any other colors besides blue?
Honestly, it's breath taking in pictures, so I can only imagine how beautiful it is in person. I like the picture you took of the cistern.
Wendy and Adrienne,
Sounds like these children really need an advocate. The photo shots appear exploitive to me too, and makes me mad. Yall have described your experiences so vividly that I feel like I am there! It is sad to only have one more day left with these precious souls that have found a place so deeply in your hearts. I do believe the feelings are mutual.
Enjoy your final days in Moldova,
Suzie
Good job! You ladies should take pride in knowing that you've made a difference in the lives of these children, regardless of what others do or the miserable living conditions. You'd be surprised at how children can detect phoniness (is that a real word?) vs. sincerity.
Congratulations on your wonderful work at the Orphanage Wendy and Adrienne, In your hearts you know how much you have meant to this children and the positive experience you brought into their lives.
The pictures may go up on their site but the children will remember the two US Ladies that were so loving and giving of themselves. Be proud of your work and feel good about it, as the most important ones will remember you both, The Children.
Have a safe trip and a safe trip home to the USA and I hope I meet you again back in Chisinau.

Veal....Mmmm Veal sounds great! I know that many people poo poo it, but it's sooooo tasty! Especially with capers and lemon butter. Mmmm. Great, now I'm hungry. Midnight snack time..... No veal, just rolls from Central Market......
Thanks, John Yes, John. This is our last week here, and already we are wondering how we are going to possibly leave these children. We want to take about twelve of them with us -- and keep them forever.
Last Day Friday Last days are always the hardest. They will remember you for all their lives. I know that leaving will be hard, but they will know that someone cared and that will sustain them through many hardships. I know that it will sustain you through many things as well. God speed y'all safely home.
f-u-n Hi Adrienne! I laughed out loud at your description of the "biting game". C'mon...nothing spells fun like getting bit on the leg by a little one!! :)
Raising one's voice Who said anything about raising my voice? I know I'm generally loud, but when all you've got is sign language, the volume goes down considerably.
Another Language Wendy, I have learned that raising the volumn of ones voice, trying to be understood does not work . . . . unless that person is hard of hearing! Wildly gesture and making airplane noises works better!
Love,
MJ
The Caregiver A.,
I'm so glad you have Wendy with you! It sounds like it would be a very lonely trip without her. I'm dying to see pictures of "The Caregiver"...she sounds like some creepy character from a 70's film. It seems like your time at the orphanage is a combination of frustration and reward. Please keep the entries coming...I really enjoy hearing all about your adventure.

Too late for photos But we are going to send some when we get back, so hang onto those photos, email them to me when I'm home, and we'll package them up for the children later. Can't wait to see you in Espana.
Raining today Today it is raining and the temp in our bedroom was a lovely 73 degrees! It felt so heavenly we took the morning off just to lie there and read, and listen to it rain. (We would never do such a thing at home, however, for all you AMD readers.)
thanks for your clarification We can always count on you to check out these details, Richard. We feel better about the bus and many things we calculate in our heads as we move throughout the day. Cheers and fun.
Thanks for the song Hey Letty, I think even I can figure your song out. The kids love to hear us sing, even if they don't know what we are saying, so we can add yours to the repertoire.
Wendy and I are already looking into sending these kids toys and shoes when we get back. They shouldn't have to hoard the few things they have!
Keep working out while I am gone. I would especially love to be able to swim with you and Nici! Wendy and I walk at least 3 miles a day to our various locations, and a few days we have used those elastic chord thingies for strength training. Our host walked in while we were using them this morning, and officially thinks we are nuts.
It's 113 here! I can totally understand how miserable you must be. We spent 2 days at a cattle auction in Hamilton this weekend where there was NO air conditioning and it was 113 degrees. One guy fainted from the heat and I thought I was going to be right behind him. We found a couple of pockets of air conditioned places (like the restroom - I'm sure it was MUCH nicer than yours), so we could occasionally get a break. Fortunately, there was air conditioning at the place we were staying and sleeping there was heavenly. Hang in there!
Picture Question What types of pictures do the children like? Pictures of people, animals, landscape, all of the above? Would love to add to your collection - not sure if you can print them in the cafes.... Should I email to yahoo address?
Wendy and I have been friends and coworkers for 8 years. We started working at the same company 3 weeks apart from each other, so we became eligible to take a 2 month sabbatical at the same time. Not wanting to waste this opportunity watching game shows and soap operas for eight weeks, we decided to take off and explore the world together. Wendy is an experienced international traveler and even lived in Spain for a year. The farthest that I have been from the US is Jamaica.
Wendy leaves behind her son and her precious dog, Zina. I am leaving my husband and my dog Ava. Hopefully with this b... full info
