Autumn Asia » China » Yunnan » Kunming
Autumn came. My favorite season. And together with autumn came first chilly nights and first cold. Days though are full of falling leaves, still warm sun and sunny autumn nostagia. Sweater, crochet-needled beret-like cap, hot green tea and steam from rice pots rising into the air. Autumn reflections. Together with the autumn nostalgia came the decision of cancelling the return ticket. I decided to stay. For now I don't even think of coming back, I don't plan anything. Within last few months I learnt and remembered for good that there is no point. Life rushes very fast. Nothing is certain. Ce [View Full Entry]

Chinese people really like Halloween. And although they have their own (Chinese) version of this "holiday", they still like to celebrate the American one. And like many Europeans, they just treat this day as another excuse to party and have fun. *** Chinczycy bardzo lubia Halloween. Chinese KTV Asia » China » Yunnan » Kunming
I always thought that karaoke clubs were the most stupid and retarded idea in the world. I didnt understand how you can have fun singing all night long. And it appears that in China the karaoke clubs (called KTV) are very popular and are considered to be one of the more expensive types of entertainment. So one day after work, my coworkers came up with idea of getting some rest in KTV. First I said no, Im not going anywhere. But their enthusiasm made me take this risk. And good for me. We were having so much fun that a few [View Full Entry]

Relax and the managers!

So today is the Mid-Autumn Festival, also known as the Moon Festival, or in Chinese, Zhongqiu Jie (中秋節). It is a popular harvest festival celebrated by Chinese people dating back over 3,000 years to the moon worship in China's Shang Dynasty. The Chinese Moon Festival is on the 15th day of the 8th lunar month, which this year is on the 3rd of October. The legend says that Chang Er, the moon goddess of immortality, flew to the moon where they lived happily ever after. You might still see her dancing on the moon during the Moon Festival! ;) On [View Full Entry]

NEVER give up Asia » China » Yunnan » Kunming
We very often say we won't make something or that we won't survive it. And then we somehow survive everything. Literally everything. I've been always saying to myself and other people that impossible doesn't exist. Something may be hard or very hard. But it's never impossible. Our life puts us to many tests, makes us go through many difficult situations. If we give up or make it, depends only on us. The point is to always go forward. Slower or faster but always forward. With bravery, strength and self-confidence. Because sometimes in hard moments we can rely only on ourselves. I [View Full Entry]

Working in China Asia » China » Yunnan » Kunming
Before I came to China, somebody asked me if I was going to work here. I said yes, beacause I don't like wasting time. But now I have a feeling it's actually all about killing it. I'm not feeling here well as everyone probably knows since I'm not hiding it at all. I'm not hiding either that every day my aggression, irritation and anger towards this environment raise more and more. So when I got three jobs, I accepted all of them. Work as a "therapy"? I guess so... The best way "not to think" and not to spend too much [View Full Entry]

The French Café Asia » China » Yunnan » Kunming
I have a feeling The French Cafe has become my second home here in China. I come here every day and every time I see some familiar looking faces from college or people I'm already friends with. The waitresses here know me too and it's funny how we have our English-Chinese converstaions. (I try to practise my Chinese with them while they want to practise their English when I'm here.) I usually come here after classes to talk on skype and spend some nice morning moments and then I drop by in the late afternoons. Also during the weekends I tend [View Full Entry]

Today I eventually made it to apply for the resident permit. Once I get it I can start my bank account. Except that I did an important thing that had to do with my research project. And after that I eventually had some time to take a few pictures that some people were waiting for. (They show more or less my every day way to college :/ ) Right now though I'm sitting in the bar I have already friends in enjoying my last free time since I got a job and I start workig on Monday. Where? Maybe on Monday [View Full Entry]

So yesterday I started the Chinese classes. A little bit boring but nice. I have to switch somehow to some slower way of studying as the Chinese teachers seem to take things very easy while the Polish teachers make you handle more than you actually can. Most of the students are Japanese and Korean. But lucklily there are also Europeans and Americans. Some of them look like New Age or Buddhism followers but well... it's China after all. The classrooms of course fulfill Chinese standards... three people sitting at the table that is supposed to be for two. Not to mention [View Full Entry]
