Tezz and Neetz

Tezz and Neetz

Neetz and myself have decided to forego all commitments for 9 months from the 4th of February 2007. We plan on spending 3 months travelling around South Africa, 3 months travelling around the following countries in Europe: Greece, Italy, Germany, France and Spain, and 3 months travelling from New York through Canada and back down the west of the states to LA.

For those that do not know Neetz and I returned on the 5th of October. We apologise for blatantly lying on our last blog by saying we would return on the 26th as originally planned. We decided to cut our trip short 3 months ago when we chose to rent a car and drive 12 000 km across the States and Canada as we did. Our decision was based on the cost of renting a car and also on the length of our trip. After arriving home early we initially surprised my dad, before jumping on another train and heading for Noosa to surprise Neetz's folks. The last part of our trip went as follows. After leaving Vancouver and crossing the border back into the States we headed for Carly's place in Seattle. Thankyou Chris, Romany, ... read more

We're still alive. We've just not had the amount of internet access as we had in Europe. Neetz and I are having a blast here. We are staying with Carly and her folks in Seattle, after having just caught up with some friends in Vancouver who we met in Greece. I'll give a quick summary of what Neetz and I have done because I have no idea how long this blog may turn out. Summary After landing in New York and staying there for a bit we migrated north through New York State to Montreal, Toronto and then down to Niagara Falls. We then travelled west through some pretty bad storm weather (in Iowa and South Dakota) to Badlands National Park, Mount Rushmore, The Black Hills, Yellowstone National Park, Grand Teton National Park, Glacier National Park ... read more

So... we spent 5 nights in San Sebastian and unfortunately the clouds once again followed us for most of the time. On one night Tezz was drinking with another Aussie we'd met along the way, just hanging out and talking around our campsite until the security guard came and said we had to move or go to sleep (but he said it in Spanish so we didn't really understand until he started directing us out of the campsite). I went to bed, Tezz said "I'll just go out to finish my drink then I'll come back". This was at about midnight. At 4.15am I'm woken up by a drunk Tezz stumbling over our tent and rolling on in squashing me in the process of getting into the tent. Very apologetic of course. The next day ... read more

okay... so where the bloody hell are we? Well we left Germany and stopped by a little country known as Luxembourg. There's not much to see in Luxembourg especially when it's raining non stop! Camping in the rain is no good, and walking in the city on one day it measured only 13 degrees so it was cold...in fact probably colder than home and they call this summer!! Anyway we did manage to check out the Bock Casemates which are tunnels underground built by the spanish many years ago to protect the people during wars etc. very cool. We also took a day trip to Clervaux to see one of the many castles in Luxembourg. When we got off the train we realised just how little the towns are in luxembourg, there was no one ... read more

Berlin This time we had a hostel booked! On Tuesday we made the effort to go on the free walking tour of Berlin, it was well worth it! The guy that showed us around explained EVERYTHING there is to know about the fascinating history if Berlin, including the politics associated with the famous Iron Curtain, Hitlers death, the Jewish Memorial and the Brandenberg Gate. In the evening we went up the Dome in parliament house to check out the city from above. We ended out getting stuck in with about 120 people when they had issues opening the doors to let everyone out. We finally got out and there was about 9 fire trucks, and other services outside. Wednesday Neetz and I went to the Pergamon museum in the morning which I thought was great ... read more

Neetz's and my attitude of 'booking is for overly organised, boring people' ended in Prague. We arrived about 5pm on a Friday night hoping to stay the weekend at a hostel of our choosing without any reservation. That was a bad idea, a very bad idea. After finally finding a place that was happy to have us only for the first night I left the hostel and Neetz in search of accomodation for Saturday and Sunday night. About 2 hours later and many kilometers of walking and numerous phone calls I finally found a spot only 1 block from where we were staying. The rest of our stay was fantastic. Besides Tezz getting asked if he wanted some sex and/or drugs (he said no thanks he's good), we explored most of what Prague has on ... read more

We arrived on Saturday afternoon and took a metro out to our camping spot on the river. After setting up our spot we went in seach of a Supermarket to try some awesome German sausage but came back with marinated pork. Sunday as always meant a sleep -in. Following breakfast and a keen ambition on my part to make it to a beer garden I said to Neetz come on we better explore this city. Without letting Neetz know of my only intention (to make it to a beer garden) (neetz here...as if I didn't know tezz's intention of going to the beer garden, he pretty much dragged me there quietly not saying anything but "nah lets go this way") we strolled past some places and took about 5 photos. From there the truth came ... read more

Hallo from Innsbruck! The train ride from Verona to here was spectacular. The plan was to stop here for 2 nights on our way to Munich, but we've fallen in love with this place and have been here now for 4 nights. This place is beautiful with so much to do, and with one discount card so cheap. On our second day we took 2 cable cars up the mountains over 2300m where we threw snowballs at each other and made a snowman, it was Neetz's first time in the snow. Would you believe it's summer here? After defrosting we went to the small Alpenzoo where we made fun of the mooses. Our third day we took the shuttle bus out to the famous Swarovski Crystal Worlds which was pretty cool. After that we went ... read more

On the 25th May we headed for Florence. Florence was beautiful on our first day, then the weather turned bad and unfortunately we got stuck in the rain at a muddy campsite. We did however venture out to Pisa to check out the Leaning Tower, which Tezz thought would be bigger! Anyway back to Florence where I stared at the buttocks on the fake statue of David (Gab you would have loved it), and shopped for leasthergoods before we got hailed on...that was Florence. Off to Bologna where we spent another rainy night, and had a brief look at the Fotana Del Nuttuno in the Main Square. The memories from my last trip are constantly flooding back to me! Venice rocked. We camped right next to the airport... ahh the serenity. The campsite was really ... read more

We are kind of sad to have now left the Islands of Greece but we can't sit on the beach forever. We left Santorini (after being dropped off at the ferry terminal on Quad bikes thanks to some great Canadian girls we met - hows that for style (Che, Ali and Erin we can't wait to crash on your couches when we hit Vancouver)) on an overnight ferry. When we jumped on the ferry all the best spots to crash were taken by the locals and there families so we decided somewhat hesitantly to pitch our tent on the back of the ferry to Athens (Photo below). While some of the other passengers thought the tent was so funny that they took pictures, we were the ones laughing when we woke up 8 hours later ... read more
