Terri Jackson & Tim Ashton

TerriandTim

Tim and I are taking this trip in memory of my late mother, Donna Jackson. My mom always dreamed of travelling to Europe, but never did make it there. We intend on taking some of her remains and putting them into the sea off the coast of Nice, so she can spend eternity basking in the beautiful waters of the Mediterranean. We love you.

Well, our final day of holidays... tomorrow we fly home... we've had an amazing trip but are looking forward to our pillows and pug. Yesterday we continued driving through the South coast of Ireland. A beautiful country... although I never thought I'd see so much rain in the summer!!! Apparently Dublin was flooded out the day after we left - let's hope it is back to normal when we arrive tonight! We will be in contact with most of you shortly! :)... read more

After an awesome (but very quick) visit to Scotland we've met up with the Dairs and are traveling around Ireland. So far, we've managed to: - drink Guiness in Dublin - climb the Cliffs of Moher - look at clouds and rain in the Ring of Kerry - kiss the Blarney Stone - eat our weight in Irish Breakfast We're having a great time - hard to believe there are only three days until we'll be home! We are heading towards Waterford today then back to Dublin for tomorrow evening. ... read more

Seriously, when they say "if you are tired of London, you are tired of life" they mean it! It was twelve years since either of us ventured to London-town... we weren't disappointed! Here's the things we loved most: 1. Transit - the tube is sooo easy to use (and has many fewer stairs than Paris) 2. The Burberry Factory Outlet - do I really need to elaborate? If Kate Spade's Outlet moved in next store I'd start shopping for a new home! 3. Fish & Chips - for some reason even tastier when drenched in malt vinegar in a dark pub 4. The shopping - stores, stores everywhere 5. Novelty T-Shirts - the selection and entertainment value far exceeds what we have at home (i.e. "He's Gay" in an arrow; "I only date babysitters"; "when life ... read more

We arrived (with no complications) in London to rain. We happily disembarked our plane and set off from Stanstead Airport. We arrived in our hotel (very interesting these London hotels...) and set out for a mini-tour. We visited Buckingham Palace, Big Ben, Westminster Abby, the Parliament, The Tower Bridge, and the Tower of London before we decided to get some rest (tomorrow is going to be a big day!!!). We popped into a London supermarket to get lunch fixings - they have the most awesome things here!!! And they are so reasonably priced!!! I love it! :)... read more

Doin it up Roman Style

We left the lovely Tuscan hills for the heat of Rome. Tuscany was wonderful, although very far from civilization. We did take a day trip to Pisa while we were there, so that was nice. On to Rome... what a city!!! Here is a laundry list of what we have done and what we thought: 1. Collessium - very cool, beautiful at night. Imagine Gladiators and screaming fans all around! 2. Ancient City - probably almost as cool as the collessium, although stinkin hot! 3. Gelato - in an attempt to (unsuccessfully) combat the heat. 4. Luzzi - the most awesome Italian restaurant ever. So good. £2.50 for a half litre of wine. Wonderful evening spent there. 5. St. Peters Basilicca - seriously, to call this church beautiful would liken it to calling Tim someone who ... read more

Under the Tuscan Sun

We've spent the last three days relaxing here in Tuscany. We stayed in a villa about an hour and a half from Florence near a tiny village called San Bronto. It is strange being here so far from reality, but at the same time it is beautiful. Everything here is rustic, quiet and calm. It has been a wonderful break. Except yesterday, when we went into Florence and Pisa, we've been spending out time relaxing under the sun, swimming in the wonderful pool, and napping lazily. Yesterday we went in to see the Leaning Tower and saw some of the highlights of Florence. Who thought streets full of leather vendors could smell so great! Today we are heading to Rome, the final leg of our Italian Adventure. The only foods we still needs to find are ... read more

So we arrived in what I was told, the Fashion capital of the world. Here are some of my highlights: 1) We slept in a room with a fan 2) I had some ice cream (gelato) 3) I walked a lot 4) I saw a lot of clothes and the astronomical price tag that came with them 5) People opened doors for me, when I walked into stores 6) I saw a pigeon 7) I left Oh yeah, I slept in a room with a FAN!!!!!!!... read more

Milan was not a typical 'sight seeing destination'... at least for me. HELLO!?!? We were in the fashion capital of the world for crying out loud!!! We arrived quite late, and navigated the crazy streets until we found our hotel. We checked out our view from our window, and saw our only cultural attraction: some random church light up all nice. We slept in a bit then headed to the FASHION DISTRICT where I scoured the amazing selection of stores (with Tim in tow of course). I was determined to find something "Milanese" and "fashionesque" to bring home with me... but what??? After trying on countless shoes and clutching various bags I opted for a cute top from a store called SPORTMAX. I loved the store - they waited on me hand an foot, offering me ... read more

We arrived in Switzerland after a nice night of non sleeping and hearing an old non speaking english man snore his face off. Exhausted we decided to travel around the banking world of Zurich, we spent a total of one hour there, looking at the stores in the railway station and that is about it, you could see the banks on the way in on the train, and that was about it. Then we got back on another train and made our way to Luzren, which from what I see on the internet is in the South west of Switzerland. Terri with her keen sense of smell for chocolate, dove off the train and ran to the nearest store to see what the Swiss had to offer. We didn't even get out of the train station, ... read more

Berlin - Very Interesting...

Berlin is different than any other city I’ve ever been to. It is so different than the other European cities I have visited that you’d almost wonder if is has been transplanted to the middle of Europe by some sort of alien being (albeit I suppose that sort of is what Hitler did…) Rather than ramble on about the three days we spent in the city, we’ll tell you exactly what makes Berlin so interesting: 1. What Paris has in the way of sophistication, Berlin has in 80s Punk/Goth. Never have I seen so many blue-haired, safety pin toting people in my life! It didn’t matter what your age was, punk lives in those that believe it, even if you are 50. 2. The city looks like it is having a bit of an identity crisis; ... read more
