Nonsense This piece is sheer nonsense...not only does the author get many facts wrong about Shillong, but his claim that because of arranged marriages, no women/girls are visible on the streets of any other town/city in India is stupid and does not stand up to any scrutiny. Wonder if he has visited any part of India at all or simply parachuted into Shillong. For heaven's sake, visit other towns and cities and keep your eyes open. Or are you blind and, worse still, a zombie?
temple awesome loud in night hi
the shive statue looks awesome, but the bhajans in night is too loud and nobody can sleep. It should be complete at 10.00 PM and not beyond except may be in weekends
Thank you for comments.
I think in April and March every year you have this Tulip gardens open in Lisee village.
I am not sure about once in 12 year shows.

Thank you for pointing it out Thnak you for pointing the mistake. I might be wrong in saying so for some areas but in general after 6 life is dead in India where as in western world personal life start after 6 !
I am an Indian as well !
I really think arranged marriages are doing more harm than good to young women. It forces people into marriage. Dowry is a direct result of that. Ill treatment of women by in-laws. Hording of gold in every houseold in India rise the prices up. Familys keep saving money for the daughters dowry instead of enjoying life like the western parents do by going on holidays every year, retire in dignity etc. I would call arranged marriages might have started in good faith but in reality it has become harmful for lot of young women.
Hope the new-wave culture in Bangalore will spread to the rest of India. There, young people will choose their own partners in life and go forward. That will bring lot of young girls out into town after 6 like in western world. Life will be lively and beautiful. In Bangalor it is.
Only wish the same for the rest of India.

A humble protest Hi Teman,
I have read some of your travel blogs and have seen the spectacular photographs posted by you and liked them too. But the commnet made by you in this post "In rest of India - due to arranged marriages, no woman could be seen anywhere in town after 6 !!!" made me SHOCKED. I think you should get to know India a little bit more before making such biased and irresponsible comments. I really don't know why no one ever protested in this issue before me.
Simply great! & Absolutely fantastic! Great Work! Keukenhof is undoubtedly one of the best places on the planet. I shall be grateful if u can keep fwding snaps related to this garden as frequently as possible. Is it true that a special flower show takes place here once in every 12 years? What's the best season to visit it?
I understand that tulips don't bloom all the year around
Hi vs,
I agree with you.
Quietness far better than jarring music in a temple.
Hope the temple authorities will see this and make some amends.

Teaman
request to keep the volume of bajans low Hi,
Can u kindly request the concerned authorities to keep the volume of bhajans little low, i dont mind mangalarthi being slightly loud. Mondays , it has to be low since it continues till the midnight.Barring the sound the temple looks awesome. Calm atmosphere has more effect on people who come to pray.
Loud noise all the time I recently shifted my house very very near to Shiva temple. I get a clear view of the temple which i think it is my luck to stay in such a locality, I have become an ardent devotee of that temple. I immensly like the "shiva gayathri slokas" played at low tone in the mornings every day , which is really refreshing and like a booster to start the day with. But later through out the day the bajans sung in the tune of hindi film songs spoils the whole effect. There are times the sound is too much to bear. There are people who are sick and old , there are students who is preparing for their exams, there are people who come back in the evenings too tired after a day's work .For them the sound is little too much, they may wish to have relatively quiet evenings. It would be greatful if the temple authorities look in to this matter and keep the volume little low.

My favourite Temple I had been to this temple since long back before the Ganesha statue established. Its my most favourite temple. The statue of lord shiva mesmerizes us, believe me, the moment we see him, our eyes doesn't support to see or enjoy any kind of beauty in the world. And I also liked that the organisors also established Jyothirlinga's around the big shiva. Its really amazing experience, no one should miss to visit the temple...God bless u
Lovely! Wonderful garden with artistically appealing landscapes. I would simply love to visit Keukenhof Gardens when I visit the Netherlands next, the previous time being as a child.
Breathtaking.... I have been this temple on my way to the Airport this Sept 09. I could not believe that I was here, right in front of phenomenal Lord Shiva. This is has been the hilite of my tour. The temple is awesome, breathtaking and mesmerizing. My next visit is guaranteed to be back here with Lord Shivas blessings, Om Nama Shivaya. Its one temple, on should not amiss....Mindblowing in a nutshell!!!
maha shivji and maha ganapathi. being an tipical hindu comunity, I observed some ethical mistake of shivji's sculpture. Mistake. number (one) the hands position says that shivji in "thapas" which means the eyes should be in closed condition. ( two) If the god seeing his devoties means one hand should be in ' aashirvad" blessing possition as Lord Ganesha. (three) normally gods do "thapas" in original appearence. that is two hands, one head, and two eyes. please note not with three eyes. Please understand after the complition of His " thapas" the first vision ( what ever appears right on his sight) will get ash. through this statue we unable to come to the conclusion that the devoties are comming to take the ashirva or just to see his thapas.....?
