Hey everyone... last blog on our last day - its finally over! :( So we travelled in style from Singapore to Kuala Lumpur - made even nicer by the memories of many other bus journeys we have endured. This bus was "super nice" with electric recliners and plenty of space for sleeping! Arrived in KL refreshed and ready for our next dose of luxury at the Sheraton Imperial - the first taxi man we asked to take us there eyes lit up when he heard the name and tried charged us 4times the price... we got in the next one that came along and saved ourselves about 3pound! :) The Sheraton Imperial is very impressive... our room is amazing and huge with a flat screen TV and DVD player (we in heaven)! We have an amazing ... read more

After our last blog we headed back to the local town and waited for a day for our bus to Mersing. We stayed on another beach called Telok Champadek in a cute little guesthouse with a balcony and a monkey walkway - they were everywhere getting into mischief and stealing the rubbish!! We also saw a huge black squirrel which we have decided is a Giant Malaysian Squirrel as no one can tell us what it was! We really liked the beach here as it was quiet and had lovely white sand - however the choice for food was not too good and we were forced into Macdonalds two days in a row… there is basically two drive thru’s right on the beach - KFC and Macdonalds and that’s about it! Next morning we left for ... read more

In true travelling style we decided on the bus the next day to go to the Cameron Highlands rather than hanging around in Georgetown for the bus to the Prehentian Islands. We had a couple of hours of rushing around from local bus stops to long distance ones (with a trip to Macdonalds in the middle - Chloe they keep appearing in front of us - help!)… then we got put on a VIP bus to the Highlands - big lovely armchair seats that reclined all the way with rests for your legs and…. well it was yummy after all the traveling we have done recently and it only cost an extra 2quid each! The Cameron Highlands was a nice break from the heat and a chance to enjoy a cup of tea in the morning!! ... read more

Hey again… feels like loads has happened since we last wrote (even though you will be getting our last blog today too… we have been having computer nightmares in Malaysia)! So Pilch got an unconditional offer after his interview and starts at Plumpton on 11th May! We had to reschedule the telephone interview after realizing that we were in fact in a different timezone (we had gone ahead 1hour from Thailand to Malaysia) - we hadn’t realized for two days!! The day after our last blog we had a little bit of a nightmare day - involving trying to find somewhere half decent to stay on the island and then discovering the time zone change and then realizing we had a virus on our memory stick and had lost all our photos! We spent a long ... read more

We finished our time on Au Nang with Chloe with one last night out … more buckets, and lots of rain that night that kept us in one bar for several hours and then a run to a tuk tuk to the local dodgy nightclub! At least Chloe got to dance - but Tanya didn’t last very long and we left Chloe to it…. Pilch singing along with the tuk tuk driver all the way home in the rain! We spent the following morning hungover on the beach getting our last rays before saying goodbye to Chloe and getting a minibus to Lanta. This involved two ferry crossings whilst on the minibus - we both noted we were seasoned travelers as we stayed in the bus rather than sit outside for photo moments and the view ... read more

The flight to Phucket was heaven compared to the hours of bus journeys through Laos we had endured in the last few weeks… and we even got an in flight meal and pillows! Once of the plane it was a bus to Krabi to meet with Chloe -which after a few texts we managed somehow to locate each other…. Overly excited by our meeting up we proceeded to celebrate with a big bottle of Sangsom Rum and head to Macdonalds (shameful but you will never understand unless you have been without for 5months)… we got shamefully drunk, brought some crap from street sellers, drank lots of buckets, went to some crappy “Lazy Bar” which lived up to its name! Pilch tried to scream some obscenities down the mic before they quickly turned it off and we ... read more

So after all our plans for adventure around Chaing Mai Pilch passed a tattoo studio and got chatting… before we knew what had happened he had arranged an appointment within the next half hour with Ek (at Phattie Studios - High in Phat Low in Moral Fibre). Once in there Tanya started looking at some options and decided to go for it… her tattoo hurt a lot less than her previous bamboo experience and she was well chuffed! It was however, now about 6pm and neither of us had any food… Pilch went out to rent some DVD’s and they began work on covering up Pilch’s left arm tattoo. We watched about 6 films in a row and didn’t leave the studio until 3am!! But at least he had the outline done!! So we woke up ... read more

It has slowly hit us that we have less than two months remaining as Uncle Traveling Macs and so since arriving in Vientiane we have been using our time as wisely as possible and fitting as much as possible in. For those of you who don’t know we booked our flights home - we will be back on 29th April (flying from Kuala Lumpur to Stansted) so this makes every day seem even more precious when we no longer have 6 months of relaxation and gluttony in front of us!! So we spent a day sight seeing in Vientiane - we started at a temple called Si Saket… following our good friend Tim’s advice over MSN that the emerald Buddha was well worth a visit. Unfortunately Si Saket is the former home to the emerald Buddha ... read more

So Nha Trang got us down a bit after a while as we were there a total of ten days in the end! We went to the beach every morning (often with hangovers…) followed by the gym, then soup/snails for lunch, and afternoon siesta followed by a dinner of oysters and alcohol! We did see a weird parade through the town featuring a snake, three monkeys, and a bear.... real animal cruelty but we did take photos like tourists should... Valentine’s Evening we went out and had our separate meals and proceeded to get very drunk… we met a couple from Bath in the “why not?” bar and finished off a couple of TVR jugs. At 11pm they hand out coupons to everyone with a number and everyone has to find the other person with that ... read more

Hello all ... just a quick update - we in Nha Trang in Vietnam now enjoying the sun and spoiling ourselves esp today - but back to that later... We got a little scammed in Siem Reap with our visas - the travel place got us a two week visa for the same price as the 30day visa we wanted - very gutted we complained and got $6 back but now we have to apply AGAIN for a proper 30day tourist visa and this time its $55!! AHHHH!! Read a bit on the internet and this is a known scam in Cambodia apparently - so anyone reading this.. be warned - make sure you get a Category C visa which can be extended and not a Category D which gives you two weeks only and is ... read more
