Well hello my long lost readers! Im so sorry for my absence lately, things have been quite crazy here as some of you may or may not know. I thought i'd try and update you on the happenings of the last month, quite quickly, and attach some pictures. I am in full working mode now as a Praktikantin (Intern) for Accenture on a project down in Karlsruhe. I am working full time during the week, and am already off on my first business trip to Stockholm next week! I am loving my new apartment in Karlsruhe and my new roomate is very nice! I have spent the last month, since NYE traveling around quite a bit. I got a little bored back in December and decided it would be a fabulous idea to plan a bunch ... read more

Wow, so its been a while yet again. I am currently writing this blog from the French Alps, looking out our window at the ski lift and village. What a deal this week has been, but I will come to that in another blog :-) I have found an apartment in Karlsruhe. I am very excited about it, a great location, wonderful flatmate. It even has a MICROWAVE and a DISHWASHER! Can you believe it!? I almost fell over I was so surprised! I will be moving in next week before I start my internship on the 4th. Very much looking forward to discovering a new area of Germany and being closer to some friends and family. So...back to where I left off in my last blog. I arrived back in Hamburg on the afternoon of ... read more

Well, lots of changes happening around here. I am sorry it has taken me so long to catch up on the last month or so. I have accepted an internship offer with Accenture and will be moving to Karlsruhe in the next couple of weeks. Karlsruhe is in the SW of Germany inbetween Stuttgart and Mannheim. It is a fantastic internship and I am looking forward to beginning it and also doing some work travel around Europe. :-) So in between finding an apartment, Xmas, New Years, my mid year seminar, etc. Here I am. I'll try to update you on each as I have time to write. Hopefully NYE will come soon. Rachel and I had a blast. But first...our fabulous Christmas in Lech, Austria. My family flew into the Frankfurt Airport on the 20th ... read more

There are lots of pictures, make sure to scan to the next page of pictures I was fortunate enough to escape the cold and dark German winter for a nice break to sunny and warmer Italy. Carolyn, Brooke and I planned this trip to Rome and Naples a couple of months ago, but I didn't realize how wonderful of a break it would really be. The weather has definitely become quite cold here, and it gets dark very early now. So it was nice to see the sun again for a while. I took off on Wed afternoon, it was actually a decent day here in Hamburg, not too many clouds. The flight was smooth and we actually were able to see the alps as we crossed over Switzerland and part of Italy. I was so ... read more

FYI: There are 2 pages of photos, or you can just click on one photo and see all of them. If you are printing then look for the Print Version link on the left and it will print out all pictures! So, I am really into my new Couch Surfing adventures, they have all proved to be a fabulous time and there is always some kind of activity going on in the world. I love meeting people that are so like-minded and open to let you stay at their home, feed you breakfast, in return for some friendly conversation. If you are interested, check it out, www.couchsurfing.com. I headed to Rotterdam last weekend to join over 100 people for the 2007 Sinterklaas Rotterdam Couch Surfing event. I was told about the event through some of my ... read more

I hope that everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving with Family and Friends back in the states. This was my first big holiday to miss with my family, and I have to admit it was a little hard. But I was determined to make sure that we had an authentic Thanksgiving here. Hosting my first Thanksgiving was tough, but there were many firsts and I ran into a few problems, just a few... The Pumpkin Pie. I managed to locate some Pumpkin Pie filling at the Karstadt downtown. They have an "american aisle", though small, is worth while. But if it gives you an idea, a can of PAM cooking spray is about 6.50 EUROS. (yeah thats about 10 bucks). I looked in my dictionary and translated Evaporated milk to Kondensmilch. I just bought a ton because ... read more

So things have actually been pretty busy around Hamburg the last couple of weeks. I have now finished all my MBA apps and interviews, so its time to sit and wait for a few weeks. I am attempting to prepare a Thankgiving dinner for our celebration on Saturday, but it seems every dish is quite a challenge. We'll see how it turns out, but I am very excited about our Fresh Turkey that I ordered for us to enjoy. :-) Today was actually a bit warmer, got up to 10 degrees (about mid 40's) and the sun even came out for a bit, really cheered me up, nice not to put on my hat, gloves, and heavy coat for once. Hopefully it will be a slight trend for a while. But anyways, enough about the daily ... read more

Well, this update is long overdue, I have actually been a bit more busy this week than normal which is nice. I am headed to Scotland tomorrow and am very excited about visiting my relatives, the Beattie family, in Glascow! I am sure it will be a very fun weekend! In other news I had my last MBA interview tonight here in Hamburg. So now it is the time to sit and wait. I should know by early January where I will be going, which is exciting but scary at the same time! I will keep everyone updated of my future destination for the next couple of years. It has become VERY cold here. Well cold for a texan. It stays mostly in the high 30's, low 40's. The sun doesn't stay up incredibly long, it ... read more

Its been a busy couple of weeks here with lots of friendly faces! I have spent this week trying to get back to normal with school and I have now started my German language class twice a week at nights. I skipped a couple of levels from September so that is promising and im looking forward to improving my skills even more! I am continuing to apply for internships in the spring and finish up my MBA applications for next year. I still find myself with a lot of time! I am trying to appreciate the fact that I am able to sit around for an entire day and do nothing. But as many of you know, I am an active busy person and this is quite hard for me. But I have lots of fun ... read more

I have officially been in Hamburg for almost 3 weeks. Some things are going smoother than others, but as I'm learning, if you just keep following the wild goose chase, as silly as it may seem, you will figure out where you are supposed to be. I love my apartment. I am living with a girl named Tina, who speaks perfect American English. She is actually an English major at the Uni Hamburg and has rented her room out to 5 americans in the past years. Its a cute little room, with a bed, bookshelf, a couch (that folds out to two small beds) a desk, a dresser, and a tv. We have actually quite a large kitchen, for German standards, and the bathroom is an experience. I remember going to brush my teeth the first ... read more
