Geo: 43.6978, -73.9864Today we mostly drove across New York and into the popular Adirondack region. Along the way we saw everything from turkeys with chicks to deer along the road. Not sure where we were headed, we looked up white water rafting and plugged an outfitters address in the GPS. Many hours and windy roads later we meet Rebecca, the owner of one of the outfitters who convinced us we needed to stay until Saturday for the next rafting trip. She directed us to a free camp site on a large lake down a dirt road. Off we went 20 miles away to the nearest store to find a tarp. it's been raining nonstop all day. At the site, Alex set up the entire camp. The tent covered to keep the rain out, and camp set ... read more

Geo: 42.6289, -78.0547Traumatized by the prior days events, we woke in our mansion cabin to the beautiful sounds of nature. I could tell this was going to be another good day.Today was comprised of activities appropriate for our cabin stay. It started off with our traditional breakfast of little smokies and eggs. Ooh so good. There was almost an air of excitement between Alex and I share as the little smoky aroma filled the cabin. Little smokies are almost always reserved for camping meals and just tasting them is like being at home in the woods. After breakfast we drove out to the visitor center where we switched keys and started out days adventure. This park is famous for its huge gorges and three magnificent waterfalls. some call this the grand canyon of the east. I ... read more

Geo: 42.6289, -78.0547...continuing where I left off puts us at our little cabin at Letchworth State Park. The cabin I reserved was basically a cabin with a small fridge and stove. To fold up cots were off to the side and there was a small table. Not bad when you are used to a tent. Alex was relaxing inside while I was piddling around outside when it started raining. I headed in to stay dry and that is when I noticed these giant ant like bugs with wings coming out of the cracks in the cabin ceiling. Alex calmly laid there saying yeah, they just came out. These creatures did not seem to be the most coordinated at walking upside down and started falling on and around us. Well obviously we were not going to be able ... read more

Geo: 42.6289, -78.0547Day 3 was a transition day for us where we planned one additional Niagara attraction then off on our journey. Boy did we save a good one for the end. Dodging fellow humans for two days in an attempt to experience the wonders of nature seems like a contradiction to me. So, I was surprised when we took a boat to the base of the falls I didn't mind the others on the boat vying for prime positioning. Alex and I found our spot early and enjoyed the magnificent mist soaking cruise. From the bottom you are able to forget all the hustle and bustle in the streets above. I was really able to appreciate the shear size of Niagara and what it must have been like back before the modernization if the area. ... read more

Geo: 43.1066, -79.0642I want to start off with my story about Nightmare Fear Factory but can't, because it was one of the last things we did today. I will have to save it for the end. Many that know me understand that vacation for me means doing as much as possible in the little time I have instead of doing as little possible as most people would have it. I even bought a book before the trip to help me sit in one place for some time. Needless to say, I have not opened the book. The day started early, around 7 a.m. I thought I had really slept in. I wondered out the door to the empty streets where I found a lady in a nearby restaurant who graciously gave me a coffee to go. ... read more

Geo: 43.1066, -79.0642VACATION!!!The day started with our early morning flight from St. Petersburg to Buffalo, NY.It is no secret that I don't particularly care for the getting there part of the trip. However, sometimes it's the little things in life that make you smile during an anxious time. A lonely grape, seemingly out of nowhere, rolled to a stop next to my seat as we cruised at over 400 miles an hour at 37,000 feet. I considered picking it up, but left it as a token distraction. She walked by and it was gone, leaving only the juicy remains of grape trail down the aisle. Curious, I cocked my head looking the length of the plane and low and behold, my little friend was attached to the bottom of the flight attendants shoe only to be ... read more

Geo: 27.8006, -82.6381We are taking the last meal with memaw, papau, Annemarie, Sean, and Anique! We have to go to bed early so we have enough energy to complete the task of making it to our motel room tomorrow. We recently learned that we have a complication on the rental car pickup as we did not pick the right airport to acquire the car. So we will end up taking a slightly riskier approach rather than a cab. It's called uber. Wish us luck and hope we don't get kidnapped because uber works by having a random stranger pick you up and then you pay him or her after they have successfully dropped you off at your INTENDED location. We should get to you again tomorrow when we officially get started on our latest adventure!-Alejandro... read more

Geo: 25.729, -80.2374While we are excited to see the ones we love, we really do wish we could see you all down on the beach. I started the day with a nice view of the sunrise between the palm trees, followed by a nice cup of local java while Alex got those last precious minutes of sleep before I woke him up. We had a 6:30 am water taxi to catch, and while the flight is only 2 hours from Belize City, a full day of travel ahead. Today, if all go as planned, we will have completed many modes of transportation, including, Water Taxi, regular Taxi, airplane, bus, and SUV. Not to mention walking with our backpacks. So again we were on the move. Everything went smooth, without much to mention except Alex up to ... read more

Central America Caribbean » Belize June 20th 2014

Geo: 17.92, -87.96We decided for our last day we were going to go and, once again, take advantage of the reef unique to Belize. San Pedro is closer to the reef than any other place we have stayed. I would estimate the waves are breaking about a half mile from the beach. It really gives you an idea of how hard it would be to get back to the ocean if you were shipwrecked on an island surrounded by coral reefs. We woke up early and went out for our local breakfast of fry jacks filled with eggs and ham. Yuuuummmm!!! After breakfast we headed over to the tour office where we were meeting our new friend Josie who was going to be taking us, via golf cart, to the dock where our boat awaited. After ... read more

Geo: 17.92, -87.96Relaxing? Again? I guess that is what you could say we did in San Pedro today. Similar to Caye Caulker, the locals all drive golf carts. The big difference is that due to the size of the island, there are golf carts everywhere. There were so many we witnessed golf cart traffic jams and we were nearly run down several times. What do you do when everyone else is driving golf carts? Of course, you get one of your own. Once again we went on a crazy golf cart adventure exploring the town. Past fruit stands and locals selling their crafts, the local airport runway in the middle of town, and the large primary school surrounded by a wall where we witnessed a chubby 10 year old making his break for it over the ... read more
