Sorry for the delay, it´s really hard to find a good computer and this blog takes about 2 hours to write! OK, Valencia. I finally went out on the pub crawl on the Saturday night with Johnny and 25 of my newest friends. The average age was around 22 so I was feeling fairly geriatric. I had to get up at 6.30am the next morning so I left the pub crawl at 3 am and got home about 3.30am and had about 3 hours sleep. Sunday May 2nd Feeling very shabby as I caught the 8am bus to Granada. Only a 10.5 hour trip ahead of me to Granada! We stopped along the way at Benidorm, Alicante, and a bunch of other wee towns. Passed by some more beautiful snow-capped mountains - the Sierra Nevada. The ... read more

Tuesday 27th April Alberta and I took a 40 minute train journey south to the pretty wee beachside resort of Sitges. Really nice place, very Mediterranean, and we even went for a swim and the water was beautiful. Lots of locals taking a day off to soak up some sun. Had a nice little lunch in the main part of the town and then headed back to Alberta´s in BCN. In the evening we caught up with my friend, Pep, at Cafe Zurich in Plaza Espanya and headed off for a beautiful traditional Catalan dinner at Madrid-Barcelona Cafe. I had the lamb shanks (which were very yummy) and chocolate dessert. Pep is heading off on his big jaunt this Friday to Chile and then on to NZ and Sydney in July. Alberta and I walked off ... read more

Ooooh, head hurts....what happened.... Thursday 26th April Had a quiet night in Pamps and then left Pamplona the next morning and headed for sunny San Sebastian on the north coast of Spain. (If you want to know where all the mullets have died and gone to, San Sebastian is the place!) I found this great little hostel - Hostel Urban - and luckily managed to get checked in down the road at their spillover hostel (which was nice and quiet) Went back to the main hostel and met these crazy Frenchies - 3 guys and 3 girls - and a Yank chef called Ryan (good bloke - he'd even worked with Jamie Oliver a few times) who had all been drinking since 4 that day. I joined in as these new cold pills seemed to be ... read more

Sunday 18/4/10 So where was I? Ah yes, Andorra. Think Colorado meets Queenstown meets Kuala Lumpur. The scenery is stunning. Andorra is at the top of Spain and bottom of France and appears to be nestled in the base of a valley. It´s surrounded by big fuck-off mountains about 2500 - 3000 metres high so is a major skiing capital. Also it´s a tax haven so lots of cheap electronic goods and impenetrable (not to mention discrete banks - I know where my money´s stashed!) Major construction going on here with big roads and huge hotels being built so obviously the recession has done Andorra some favours. I drove around the very narrow windy roads for an hour trying to find a hotel as it was getting late and dark. I finally came acroos the Bates ... read more

Hooley dooley! OK, so I finally made it out alive out of Barcelona. What an awesome place - could easily spend another 6 months there. A friend of a friend gave me her friend´s (Pep) number here in BCN. Pep is a company director here and took me out to his fave place in BCN - La Cabana de Parque. (If you´re reading this, Brenda, Pep said you´d be jealous!) He also took me to another great place - Cafe Velodrome - where only the cool kids like me can hang out. Very classy. And the man paid for everything! He only just met me so very impressed - Muchas gracias, Pep! 16/4/10 It´s now been a year since my wee bus, Kitty, was stolen so am now spending the insurance money! Would rather have Kitty ... read more

Today was one of the bestest days ever! Hired a big old bike from Fat Tire Bike Tours and hit the road, Jack. Barcelona is a fairly flat city so biking is probably the best way to go. Headed down the Diagonal Mar and past some beautiful parks with crazy sculptures in them. (I actually passed a Mammoth - let´s call him Manny) At the end of the Diagonal Mar there was this huge open area where they have displays like the Easter Show or whatever there. On top of this area they had a solar panel array the size of a football field. The Spanish are great at having big areas and tend to harness the resources here really well. If they can do it, why can´t Australia? (Let´s not go down the road of ... read more

Hoy carumba! Actually, that´s Portuguese but you know what I´m talking about OK, here´s what´s happened so far. Arrived in Kuala Lumpur last Thursday night and had a reasonably nice hostel downtown. Spent the Friday wandering around the city. Went to see this Hindu Temple at the Batu Caves. Had to walk up 286 steps in 30 degree heat and 100% humidity but pretty amazing views and some impressive limestone caves. Oh yeah, and the obligatory Mr Bigglesworth-looking monkeys who are eyeing up your wallet. (Cheeky monkeys) You walk through the markets in Chinatown and there´s about 400 guys all trying to sell you fake watches, Jimmy Choo handbags (I´d never heard of Mr Choo until then) and Ray Ban sunglasses. And the good news? They all want to give you a special price! I know ... read more
