Story Time! Wow, I was looking through my pictures that I have taken and I realized that in one week there are enough to tell at least 100 stories already. So instead of selecting just a few I decided to post a whole bunch of them to give all of you a great view of all aspects of my life here in Japan! I put details under each picture so be sure to read them to get the story behind each one. I hope you enjoy them! As for an update about the past week I can say that it was a great one and a hardworking one at Aeon. It was counseling week at school which means I had individual meetings with all of my adult students that take my classes to discuss progress and ... read more

Sloan here! Coming at you one year older, better looking, smarter, and just maybe a little more mature. Oh and did I mention modest? hahahaha just kidding everyone, still the same old me, just with a beard and a lot more Japanese friends! So I made it through my welcome party on Saturday just in time for my birthday on Sunday and I'll tell you one thing. Japanese people work hard, but man do they party hard. I've never had so many chances to yell "Kanpai!" in my whole life than I did these past two nights. I managed to excuse myself from most drink challenges and offers on Saturday since I was able to claim the need to keep sober for my big speech, which I gave to the staff and students at the dinner ... read more

Status: training complete! So i made it through my week of training and the next stage is getting to my school and apartment next week! It feels like it flew by but when i look back and think about everything that has happened so far I realize that it would take a few hours just to tell you all about it. I'll try to do it in a few sentences though if I can. To sum it up I can say that it was a challenge. A challenge that really helped me learn alot and develop alot of skills in a really short amount of time. Apparently I am now able to teach about 25 different classes to students of the ages of 1 through 15, all high school kids, university kids, and business people and ... read more

Sup Foreigners! Im here in Omiya at an internet cafe hangin out on my day off and so far its been amazing! There is so much to tell but most importantly i made it, all my bags with me, and so far my one day of training was tough but encouraging and motivating. I found out where i will be living, an apartment 20 mins from my school, a one room place measuring 8 tatami (8 times 1.4 square feet), which is apparently more than enough room. Enough for what i dontt know but im sure i will be comfortable in it. Today i am exploring the city with some of my fellow Aeon teachers in training, going to a famous shrine and people watching on the streets and in shops. My japanese has already been helping alot ... read more

Hey Family and Friends all over the world! Whats up? Oh, not much. Just about to leave on a pretty lame trip for at least a year. I have to go to Shiki, Japan, a city 15 mins NW of Tokyo in one of the main subburbs. What am I doing? I have to teach English to kids, teenagers and business people of all ages at a school in Shiki with a company called Aeon. Ya, I know, what could I be thinking... I mean, getting paid to go on a crazy adventure, working with an amazing company in one of the most exciting cities of the world, meeting people, playing DDR on a daily basis, eating the best sushi in the world and living on my own... who hasn't done it? All I wish is ... read more
