Happy New Year and welcome to 2014: the year of the Mer-man! I hope everyone enjoyed some vacation time and is making great strides with their new year's resolutions...or at least resolved to laugh at how preposterous they seem now. Let's just agree that this has the potential to be a rad year, regardless of what we envisioned while wearing our New Year's Eve goggles. It's certainly started off with a bang for many of us. Since the last update there's been a lot of action out here in theCaribbean. We've celebrated a few more cast birthdays, settled into our cabins on the ship, started performing all of our shows, made it through the Christmas season and a few illnesses, seen a bunch of gorgeous beaches and are accelerating through the first third of our contract ... read more

Greetings land-dwellers! I am officially a man of the sea now. I live in my own cabin in the hull on the 4th deck, starboard side, midship, I work in the Stardust Theatre, forward, eat in the staff or crew mess, run topside around the track, and watch dolphins surf the waves off the bow. Boom, ship talk, it's like real talk, but with tropical water. It's been seven days since I stepped on the ship, and this is the story thus far... Wednesday: I arrived on the ship after a few flights from Toronto through Atlanta to Miami the previous day and then one more to Belize in the morning. I went straight to Belize city to catch the tender boat and caught my first glimpse of the Jewel. It was docked five miles out ... read more

Rising this morning, I smile...until I try to push myself out of bed and hear a cacophony of objections from countless body parts not willing to be pulled out of their time of rest. My arm gives out, my abs don't even respond, and my legs collapse as I put them on the floor. It's 6am and we have six hours of training ahead of us at the studio, followed by weight training and perhaps some more choreography practice at our residences. Even so, I find myself chuckling, smiling at the apparent impossibility of the coming day, knowing that this feeling has been overcome each and every day so far. We are in Tampa, Florida and it's day 9 of four weeks of rehearsals. Thanks to a team of coaches and cast members, we have made ... read more

Konnichiwa! Once upon a time, a long long time ago, there was an adventure undertaken by two curious, enthusiastic dudes in a land far to the east... a mighty land called Japan... And this is the retelling of that quest for discovery, passed down through the ages, becoming legend among the earth-folk. Although embelishments are sure to result from tales past down over time, let us allow ourselves to be enthralled and enraptured in this departure from everyday life! So we're playing catch up here and I'm going to be posting some stories about my life in 2012 so far, starting with the post graduation trip that I went on with my good, ultra-buzzy Kiwi-buddy, Chris. We finished up our final drama presentations for our respective classes at Playola English School in Seoul, passed on our ... read more

Anyang! Hello and happy new year to everyone! What a year to be alive, right? If you're like me, it's tough to hang up the shorts for a while and bring out the double layer of leggings and underarmor, but even with the runny nose and frozen toes there's a lot to be thankful for and so much to look forward to in the new year. For one, we never stop hiking here in Korea so the outdoor adventures continue at full speed, we just strap on the crampons and spats and do some mountain singing at the peak to stay warm! Santa has come and gone for Rabbit Class and they have all officially turned 7 years old as of January 1st. I got older too somehow, and had a fantastic birthday here, getting to ... read more

Hey strangers! Well like the title says, it's a new country, a new job, a new language and culture (the same tiny apartment) and a new life! I'm here in Seoul and finally settled enough to sit down and get in touch with everyone again. It really has been too long and I'm psyched to be able to connect and hopefully get some responses as to what all of you are doing too. So I'll get right to it and fill in all the blanks from the last 4 months, and here's a quick heads up, there's some shockers! Let's start off with a bang: I spent the summer with family in Toronto, moved to Korea in July and... my mom got married in August!. My sister is hopefully moving to Spain, my brother is doing ... read more

Hello World! Greetings from Hue, Vietnam, where culture thrives and history is preserved. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to get around to see much of it since I've been hit with another case of the Belly Bugs, which has kept me indoors (and close to the bathroom) for the past few days. So at least it's given me time to sit down and collect some pictures and videos from the past month and put together this blog to show you what it's like when you're actually feeling good on an adventure around the world. It's good for me too to remind myself I'll be back at it in a while, and that this attack on my insides won't keep me down for long! So like I said in my last blog I had taken a spontaneous ... read more

Ok guys, here's an ultra quick note just to let everyone know where I am and what I'm up to since the disasters in Japan last month. So to put everyone at ease who have been asking if I'm Ok, YES, I'm healthy and I just set up here in a Couch Surfer Hosts' place in Hanoi, Vietnam. I'm right in the Old Quarter and I'll be here for about a week before moving on, eventually making it down to Saigon in about a month. And if you didn't know before, this is the trip that I've been planning for a while, taking about three months to do the full circle of South East Asia with a small backpack, an open mind and some good footgear. It's been a tumultuous time this past month, but I ... read more

Hey World! Step one, celebrate the new year! Step two, share some of these memories with me! This could be my favorite set of pictures that I've sent out so far. Just putting this blog together had me laughing and smiling (cringing sometimes too) while looking at some of the incredible times that we've been having over here. So I focused more on the descriptions of the pictures to tell the story together with the shots so be sure to check them out and go through them full screen to get the best feel for it, cuz I love hearing that you feel like you're there with me and taking part in all my adventures, since I wish you all were closer to me much of the time! I'll let you get into the pictures and ... read more

Hey everybody, I'm back! Once again it's been too long since I sent an update, and once again there's too much to tell in one blog post. Big events and big changes to mention, including a jam packed last few weeks. But this time it hasn't been because of work, but because of vacations, trips, and visits from best friends. So I'll save some of that for the next blog and start by going back in time a bit further to talk about all the good stuff from September, October and November. So check it: I left off last time telling some stories about climbing mount Fuji and telling you about changes with my job and how life in Japan has been affecting me so far. Well since then there has been some huge changes in ... read more
