Anyang! Hello and happy new year to everyone! What a year to be alive, right? If you're like me, it's tough to hang up the shorts for a while and bring out the double layer of leggings and underarmor, but even with the runny nose and frozen toes there's a lot to be thankful for and so much to look forward to in the new year. For one, we never stop hiking here in Korea so the outdoor adventures continue at full speed, we just strap on the crampons and spats and do some mountain singing at the peak to stay warm! Santa has come and gone for Rabbit Class and they have all officially turned 7 years old as of January 1st. I got older too somehow, and had a fantastic birthday here, getting to ... read more

Hey strangers! Well like the title says, it's a new country, a new job, a new language and culture (the same tiny apartment) and a new life! I'm here in Seoul and finally settled enough to sit down and get in touch with everyone again. It really has been too long and I'm psyched to be able to connect and hopefully get some responses as to what all of you are doing too. So I'll get right to it and fill in all the blanks from the last 4 months, and here's a quick heads up, there's some shockers! Let's start off with a bang: I spent the summer with family in Toronto, moved to Korea in July and... my mom got married in August!. My sister is hopefully moving to Spain, my brother is doing ... read more

Hello World! Greetings from Hue, Vietnam, where culture thrives and history is preserved. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to get around to see much of it since I've been hit with another case of the Belly Bugs, which has kept me indoors (and close to the bathroom) for the past few days. So at least it's given me time to sit down and collect some pictures and videos from the past month and put together this blog to show you what it's like when you're actually feeling good on an adventure around the world. It's good for me too to remind myself I'll be back at it in a while, and that this attack on my insides won't keep me down for long! So like I said in my last blog I had taken a spontaneous ... read more

Ok guys, here's an ultra quick note just to let everyone know where I am and what I'm up to since the disasters in Japan last month. So to put everyone at ease who have been asking if I'm Ok, YES, I'm healthy and I just set up here in a Couch Surfer Hosts' place in Hanoi, Vietnam. I'm right in the Old Quarter and I'll be here for about a week before moving on, eventually making it down to Saigon in about a month. And if you didn't know before, this is the trip that I've been planning for a while, taking about three months to do the full circle of South East Asia with a small backpack, an open mind and some good footgear. It's been a tumultuous time this past month, but I ... read more

Hey World! Step one, celebrate the new year! Step two, share some of these memories with me! This could be my favorite set of pictures that I've sent out so far. Just putting this blog together had me laughing and smiling (cringing sometimes too) while looking at some of the incredible times that we've been having over here. So I focused more on the descriptions of the pictures to tell the story together with the shots so be sure to check them out and go through them full screen to get the best feel for it, cuz I love hearing that you feel like you're there with me and taking part in all my adventures, since I wish you all were closer to me much of the time! I'll let you get into the pictures and ... read more

Hey everybody, I'm back! Once again it's been too long since I sent an update, and once again there's too much to tell in one blog post. Big events and big changes to mention, including a jam packed last few weeks. But this time it hasn't been because of work, but because of vacations, trips, and visits from best friends. So I'll save some of that for the next blog and start by going back in time a bit further to talk about all the good stuff from September, October and November. So check it: I left off last time telling some stories about climbing mount Fuji and telling you about changes with my job and how life in Japan has been affecting me so far. Well since then there has been some huge changes in ... read more

Round 2 go! Ok, as promised I'm getting another message out to you, and this time it didn't take four months to prepare. Let's get right into what I introduced at the end of the last blog. So as the summer started and the festivals began across Japan I was in full adventure mode. It was really heating up in April here in June and we had already planned a thousand things to do over the new few months. It was tough to remember that I wasn't just on vacation and that I had to work five or six days of each week, since my focus was often on all the sporting events, trips and parties that were jammed into any free time I had. But that's not to say that my school wasn't a huge ... read more

Wow, I can't believe the last time I wrote one of these was way back at the beginning of May. So, first of all I'd like to say that I'm sorry and I owe you all an explanation for the lack of bloggage. So here it is: Ummm...It's too hot? Hahaha ok so that was a horrible reason. It's true (in fact the hottest summer in memory for almost everyone I have spoken with in Japan), but no reason to leave you all hanging. To tell the truth it was a chain of events that overwhelmed me. That, and the fact that my perfectionist/procrastinator side dominated for a while and kept me from just sending a dang message out. Well enough of that guy, the real Sloan has taken over again and he can't wait to ... read more

It's been so long, sorry everyone! Here's the one I wrote a few weeks ago: Hello all fans, followers and felines! Lots to talk about, more to show in this jam packed update of the blog they call Sloaner. Top of the list has to be the visit from two other bearded Crawfords last month, when my bro, Tad and my pops, Bunks came to Toyko for some sightseeing and partying. It was awesome having Tad here for about a week and a half to hang out and double the amount of stares and polite whispers seen and heard from everyone while we were traveling around. We packed a bunch of sightseeing in around Tokyo and went down to Kamakura with my girlfriend and her friend for a day. I only got a few days away ... read more

Hisashiburi, everyone! (Long time no see) and as you probably guessed a whole lot has been going on so I have a bunch of great stuff to tell you about. This note will focus on a few of the best sightseeing and cultural activities that I have been lucky enough to experience in the past month. This includes a trip to the port town of Yokohama, as well as the futuristic city of reclaimed land on Tokyo Bay called Odaiba, and a glimpse of the Japanese J-League soccer match between my squad, the Urawa Reds, and Toyko FC. But first off check out the video of one of the exchanges at the Relay Marathon that we ran last month, and marvel at the athleticism and speed of our team (lol). So, let’s take you on a ... read more
