Cherrio ladies and gents... Happy Tuesday, almost Wednesday. Slept nicely yesterday. If you're ever in London, recommend staying at the Marriott Regent Park. It's not city center, but it's just a stones throw from the Swiss Cottage tube station - Jubilee line. You can pretty much get to city center within 15-20 minutes. Today was a nice leisurely day for us. We woke up early enough and had breakfast about the Swiss Cottage area at this nice little neighborhood joint called Pasticcio. It was really a italian cafe, but they also offered the full english breakfast. I only ordered half and I had to decide between white coffee and black coffee. I can only assume that the white coffee had milk in it and being quasi lactose... I decided to go with the black. It was ... read more

Just wanted to let everyone know that we arrived in London and are all very tired. We had a long day and all are glad that we are finally checked into our hotel. We arrived in London around 8:45 AM and got thru customs with no issues... except that the customs officer wanted to know how much money the Deppes were bringing into the country. Didn't ask either Poysee or myself. We must not look like we would be carrying lots of $$$$! We hopped into a cab and 70 pounds later and a minor wedding dress rehearsal parade (full of horses, carriages with stand in queen and princess, and gun brigade)after, we arrived at our hotel. Stored our bags and we were on our way.... The tube station is about a 3 minute walk away, ... read more

Day two in the keys.... Woke up early because we had an early appointment with the parasailing team.... only to have them cancel/postpone on us because of high wind... We had the option of cancelling or rescheduling for later in the day. We decided to reschedule for later in the day. We had waverunning aka jet skiing aka sea-dooing....at 11:30. That would be a two hour tour around the island.... after that, we would head over and do parasailing... sounded like a good plan... This whole trip I was a little iffy about the jetskiing. Wasn't sure if I wanted to do it... I was afraid of getting wet and I wasn't sure how wet I"d get being a passanger..... It was a sunny day and I was feeling pretty good, so I decided I'd go ... read more

Last day in richmond with lots of fond memories. There was lots of good eating. Wrapped up my stay with a visit to a gelateria with 218 flavors. Yes, that's right 218 flavors. YUMO!!!! Between the seafood and dim sums and Chinese food, the stomach is fulfilled! And I am ready to head back home. My pants can't take it any more! The gardens in the Nitobe Memorial Gardens were very serene and the canopy walk in the botanical gardens were fun and "adventurous." All in all, this was a tame trip by touristy standards but then again, I guess that's what 2nd time around is all about.... Good eating... read more

Happy third day in SF. Didn't sleep real well last night. Couldn't tell if it was the fact that I had caffeine during the day or the fact that I was slightly unsettled with where I was sleeping. Either way, I was up until 1:30 ish and up by 7:00. I know.. unusual for me huh? Anyways... woke up in the morning and headed out across the Golden Gate Bridge to this wind-y road, up and down this mountain to get to Muir Woods. GGB was massive, but it was really foggy so it was hard to actually see it and we didn't pull over to take any pics because you couldn't see. We drove by the toll, but because we had 3 or more carpoolers, we didn't have to pay. Why doesn't the East Coast ... read more

OK, day two..... started off nice.. had a good breakfast at the hotel, got keys for the house early and even had time to go search for the elusive pineapple bun again... Knew I was off to a bad start when we didn't find the buns... After we checked out, I was walking to the parking lot, breathing with my mouth open and kinda of in awe of the outside of the hotel... when some freakoid, says to me... what are you laughing at... I'm like what? huh??? Just keep walking... just keep walking.... We walk up to the house... look on the outside and a window with a torn up curtain... bad sign... is it sketchy?? don't know... can't check in until 3... but we wanted to drop our car off..... The house is located ... read more

First off, for those who didn't know, I've come to San Francisco for a quick 4 day weekend with my friends Susan and Joanne. We arrived early yesterday and OMG... it was cold... Can you believe it's possible to be mid 60s in July??? Add in the wind factor and it felt like the 50s.... For an east coast girl like me.. that was kinda cold!! I definitely didn't pack right for it.... As a result... I am a brand new owner of a nice blue jacket with the words San Francisco on it.. Oh and it's reversible. Don't hate.... As a souvenir... one lucky person will be the lucky recipient. J/K J/K.... Anyways... you've always heard that San Fran is a city of hills.. they WEREN'T kidding... I thought Italy and hiking thru Cinque Terre ... read more

Just as I pushed send... I realized that I forgot to tell you all about the great food I had. The first night... We ate in the local Palastrina restaurant called Amedeo. We had fixed menu for dinner. Started off with the house red... very smoothe.... The fixed menus are separated into 3 courses... there's the antipasta, the primi and the secondi. For the antipasta, we had yummy prosciotto with mozzeralla and swiss. There was salami, sausage (which looked like Lop Cheung), and olives, and mushrooms, and bread... all very good... all very authentic. For the primi, which is usually the pasta, we had spaghetti ragu... which is essentially your spaghetti with meat sauce... I don't think I've ever tasted spaghetti as good as this.. the noodles were cooked, but had slight hint of crunchiness to ... read more

Another day has come and gone and it's time to say ciao ciao to roma, but first... let me tell you what I did today... First, we headed off to Circo Maximus... it's where they had the chariot races... Just a mound of dirt now... nothing too exciting... but we did get to see the backside of the Palatine Hill. Looks pretty cool... Then we tried looking for the "Mouth of Truth." It's this statue of the face where you're supposed to stick you hand into it and if you're not truthful, it will eat it up... we never found it. So we walked to visited Vatican City and went into the museum and St. Peter's Basilica. For you non-catholic followers out there... vatican city is over-rated. I wasn't really into the art in the museum ... read more
