The weather was foggy today which enhanced the eerie atmosphere of ‘The Rock’ – the overall Alcatraz experience was amazing! We walked around the historic cells listening to an audio tour voiced by some of the old officers and inmates which brought the prison to life, and the stories of the attempted escapes were particularly interesting. It was a surreal feeling that not so long ago, the likes of Al Capone and The Bird Man were incarcerated there. After another long and tiring day we both still agree it was well worth the early morning! We then made the climb up to Crooked Street/Lombard Street, the pictures explain it all!
