I've been a bit of a nomad since 1985, when I sold up and headed out to Greece to work for the summer. Nine years later I was still there but returned to the UK in 1994 and settled back into the rat race.
After 10 years back in Blighty I sold up again in 2004 and this time headed off to Peru as a volounteer English teacher for 3 months. I had a fabulous time, touring the country extensively and also visiting Ecuador and the Galapagos Islands. From there I headed back to Greece and travelled to Turkey, then was on the road for 3 years around Greece, hoping to find a full time job there.
By early 2007 I had about given up hope of finding what I was looking for, so decided to spend 3 months in Canada with family before returning to the UK and mainstream life once again. Whilst in Canada I saw an ad for a job on the island of Sifnos in the Cyclades Islands. I sent off my CV and the next day I received a phone call offering me a full time job there - so off back to Greece I went!
After 3 years on the island I returned to the UK once more, this time for family reasons, but thanks to the wonders of modern technology I am still able to continue the job I was doing in Greece.
As a busy travel consultant I don't get the chance to get away during the summer months but always like to have something to look forward to at the end of the season. This blog is intended to be a record of those travels.
My next scheduled trip is a freighter cruise around Europe.
