Extremely Interesting!
The pictures look bleak and not at all hot. I hope your body is coping with the extreme changes in temperature. Do I take it that your Frech room mate was female? How interesting! Lots of questions to ask when you finaoly return. xxx

What on earth is that nice french girl going to do in Ulaanbaatar (!) for three months? Still - a room full of Mongolians sounds fun!

Good Looks
Glad to hear Lenin's looking good for his age - who's that who got in the picture at St Basils?- watch out for him he looks like Russian mafia to me. Speak soon

Great photo
Is what is/was called Red Square I wonder. I feel like I've seen photos of people dancing here in the snow on New Years Eve.

Well spotted!
Well done Sam, apparently lots of people mistake the cathedral for the Kremlin, clearly not studying their guide books! Did you have some vodka? Best of luck with the next leg of your journey x

Sam, you have my uneserved admiration for embarking on such an adventure, all on your own! I really envy you this memorable experience, well done for your great initiative. Take all necessary care, of course. Love, Grandad

The journey of a life-time
So far, looks so interesting. Presumably the Olympian and the Prof spoke English. They sound preferable to the other silent companions but the drunks must have provided entertainment. Everybody who has ever herd of the Trans-Siberian Express would love to go on it. So, ENJOY and keep moving. Keep well and happy. x

Travelling companions
Not sure if you're saying that a journey with a Russian olympian and a University professor is a good or a bad thing... I personally like both types.

Poland
At least you got to see Poland out of the train window! Maybe you've set off from Moscow by now - so enjoy the trans-siberian - one of my life-time ambitions!
