Jan 23  Day 8 Today we had another 3 ish hour drive in a small, crampped, uncomfortable van to the Nkuringo gorrila camp site. The road was dirt cholk full of pot holes, rocks and landlides. We all looked like bobble heads because of the constant jerking and bumping around. We eventually made it up these treacherous dirt mountain roads and were warmly greeted at the camp site.  We got shown our rooms and then the camp grounds.   The local town put a show on for us they sang and danced it was so touching. It started out ontop of a hill overlooking the valley and village below it was georgous but it started to rain so we had to run down the hill a little way to a large sheltered area where they continued the ... read more

We have about a nine hour drive and unfortunately it's pooring out so it might take longer. Hopefully it won't rain when we trek though. We drove from Kampala to Lake bunyoni stopping a few times along the way nothing major except we did cross the equator.   We finally arrived at lake bunyoni around 6 pm so we quickly set up tents and started dinner. Patrick made a campfire and we had a Barbie over it chicken, lamb chops, some sasuages as well as some baked squash and garlic bread. Everything we delicious.  We sat around the fire for a while chatting before we all went off to sleep.  ... read more

Jan 21  Day 6  We had a lazy day today. We chilled at the camp most of the morning, I caught up on here sitting on the spectacular deck. Then we headed off to Kampala the capital of Uganda to do some shopping then pick up some more passangers tonight. After we got to camp we set up, Maydeena and I went for a dip in the pool which was about the size of a hot tub. Then we all hung out exchanged emails and then started dinner.  We had cottage/sheppards pie, which Tan made and it was delicious. Our 3 other passangers arrived later all ozzies a couple and one solo guy. The couple got here late so we didn't talk to them much but the kid got there around dinner time. He seems prett ... read more

Jan 20  Day 5 Today we had our white waterrafing excursion. I was bummed about not wearig contacts but not worth messing with my eyes yet. Can't wait for LASIK. Any way we had a great breaky then headed off to have another with the rafting group. Then we had a short drive to the river.  Our boat was the 2 Ozzie girls 2 guys we meet last night, 2 uk chicks and myelsf. Our raft guide Nathan was very good and through. I was very impressed. We entered the Nile at a very mellow slow moving area so we were able to do all the drills and pratice flipping and everythig.  It was the most hand on teaching I have ever seen. Once we went through all of that it as game on. First rapid ... read more

Jan 19 Day 4 Today was our soft power voulenteer group day.  It was really cool and inspiring. They took us to one their base near town where we got a small tour/orientation of the organization. It was really amazing. We all bought some things from their craft/arts shop. Then we hopped on a truck and went on the other side of town to help paint some schools. It wasn't easy painting though becaue the brushes were just stubs and the cement wasn't smooth it was really bumpy and textured. So we basically had to stamp the paint into the cement and it was so watery that most of it ended up on the ground. We had a small lunch out there some plain maze but some awesome sweet potatoes and decent spinach dish.  When we ... read more

Jan 18  Day 3 So today we are headed to Uganda to a town called Jinja It shouldn't be to long of a drive a d hopefully the border crossing goes well. Well me made it fine the border crossing was pretty smooth. We got VIP accesss to pass all the commuter trucks. Kathy said they sometimes wait up to 2 weeks to cross the border because of paper work. We went through pretty smoothly. We did have to wait for Patrick our driver to get the stamp for the truck but it was because he had to hop on a taxi to go to town to find the offical to get the stamp, pretty ridiclous. But after that it was smooth sailing. Well as smooth as you can be on bumpy African roads. Haha Maydeena ... read more

Jan 16 Day 1 So I had my breaky then got a taxi over to hotel boulvard. There were a number of tour groups meeting there for their tours. Some really cool big safari trucks. Then ours came and it is pretty pimp not as old and rugged looking but it's really sick. Anyway our first drive was only a couple of hours or so and we stopped to look at mt longronot along the way.  When we got to the park  we had lunch outside it was good, some lunch meat and veggies and some south African chutney, delicious. Then we went on our first game drive. It was awesome not even 2 mins in and we saw buffalo and zebras and some hogs. Then we drove out onto the lake flats to get a ... read more

Jan 15 So my flight was fine. It was in an old airplane again but it was ontime and a smooth flight. But when I arrived I didn't not see anyone from the hostel. Long story short the guy at the airport booked me a room he claimed was somewhat near by. I wantted try and just stay at the boulevard where my meeting would be but he claimed they were booked. So I paid my room and my taxi ride to the hotel. Which is decent small and clean but not worth the money at all but the guy said it was safe there. I should have looked in my book and gone else where but I was trusting him for some reason. Anyway I showered rang home then took a nap. I then had ... read more

Jan 12 Well my driver collected me early and we headed off to round up a few more people then hit the bus station. Where he put us on the bus and sent us 5-6 hours in to the desert to Baharia oasis.  Where we were met by mobs of tour operators and touts. Our guide had no sign just said his name wlgdy. He separated us into some old 4 runners and away we went. We drove for an hour or so before stopping for lunch which our driver made fo us. It was pretty good. My car consisted of a weird German guy named gregory and a Japanese kid named Teto. Our first stop Cristal mountain. I was under the assumption we were going to hike this or something or at the least it ... read more

Jan 9 5:30 am wake up to hit abydos and dendara with another tour.  It's was a few hours drive away from Luxor which is why we had to leave early. We went to Abydos first. This temple had some really amazing heirogliphcs. I wish I could describe these places better but I cannt figure out how to. Haha they are really old ruins with heirogliphcs and some statues. This one was cool because the roof was intact I think it is the most intact temple in Egypt or atleast south egypt. It was also nice because it was so far away they were no tourists there and only a few showed up when we left. The lighting on the walls and pillars made for great photos I'll try and post some my last day here ... read more
