Well we arrived in NYC late evening on the Saturday - all bright lights, skyscrapers and a bit of snow. It was freezing cold and felt really Xmassy. We checked into our hotel, which wasn’t great since it is so expensive but it was nice enough and clean so we were happy. We headed out straight away and jumped on the subway to Lincoln Plaza to see the 3D Christmas Carol with Jim Carey, we stopped off at a little pizza place up a side street for a quick slice of pizza - yum! Afterwards we headed to Times Square, it was excellent. I can’t believe how late the shops are open and how busy it was, 1am is like 6pm on a late night Xmas shopping night at home, multiplied by 1000. The next day ... read more

Hey y’all how y’all doing? We have been hanging out with David and Victoria Beckham in LA for 4 days now!! We arrived in LAX Tuesday 1st of December (our 7 year anniversary since we starting dating). Security was pretty tight at the airport, always makes you feel guilty even when you are not! The immigration desk was pretty intense but luckily no cavity search. We arrived at the hotel at around about 3 in the afternoon, the flight was 10 hours long, we hardly got any sleep and with the time difference (-20 hours Fiji time) we were pretty knacked. We took a walk along Hollywood Boulevard, and went to Starbucks for some festive coffees and cakes. We had little energy so we headed back to the hotel early, jumped into bed and watched Santa ... read more

Bula! :-) Arriving in Fiji on the Tuesday evening, we were greeted by the driver that the hotel had arranged for us. The journey would take an hour and a half with nothing more than a few villages between Nadi and Sigatoka where we would be staying. Having been to Ko Samui and Phuket we expected it to be similar but it was quite different. There was very little to be seen in the way of tourist shops, cafes and fast food places. It seems that although there are signs of development for hotels and houses along the road, the Fijians have managed to keep their paradise island exactly that. There are masses of fields growing sugar cane along the road and occasionally you would smell the burning where they had cut it down and see ... read more

Hello all We arrived in Rotorua on Monday by plane from Wellington Airport. The plane we were on had a maximum capacity of 50 seats, it was tiny so we felt every bump! Rotorua is one of the world’s most concentrated geothermal areas, with geysers, areas of bubbling mud and old volcanoes. However due to this it is very smelly, due to the Hydrogen Sulphide rising up from the area’s thin crust! The smell is like rotten eggs, but it is weird you can smell it really bad at first but then get used to it! It means that I can fart in front of Anne and she is none the wiser, hee hee!! We arrived about 4.30 on Monday, so just picked up our hire car, found the hotel then went for an India! They ... read more

Well we hit the road early on Thursday for our two day road trip from Queenstown to Picton via the west coast. We had already planned our half way point to be Hokitika and covered 550 km to get there. First of all we stopped into Wanaka to collect our wedding photos only to find that they had already been sent on to the wedding planner in Nelson. We carried on and stopped at Makarora for our packed lunch and then on to Franz Josef Glacier where we did 3 of the walks to get views of the Glacier. One of them was walking the Glacier valley to get as close to it as possible, which wasn’t a tough walk but did get colder and harder to breathe the closer we got. My trusty grey fleece ... read more

Bonjour We arrived by plane in Queenstown (mid west coast of the south island) on Monday, after flying from Christchurch. The plane journey itself only took 50 minutes. Queenstown Airport is surrounded by mountains on pretty much all sides so it looked well cool coming in on the plane, like landing in the middle of the Alps! We booked an apartment for 3 nights in Queenstown when we were in Oz, it was pretty cheap. When we arrived it was absolutely beautiful, like a modern flat with all the mod cons and it even has a washing machine and tumble dryer (so I can now was my shirts and don’t have to wear the same one all the time -IG!!!). Anne has been cooking the last 3 nights, she is loving it - so am I! ... read more

This has been the longest time between blogs but we have a good excuse - the wedding! On behalf of my husband and I......... We were so excited to pick the family Dominick up from the airport last Tues, Arran is getting so big, not to mention cute, cute cute. We spent the night in Christchurch and had take away and beers in our room - we had friends again - yeah. Hit the road early on Wed morning for Mount Cook after the wedding cake and flowers were delivered. Had the cake on my knee the whole trip but it survived thankfully. Made stops at Fairlie (for make up trial) and Lake Tekapo (for hair trial). Wow - Lake Tekapo and Lake Pukaki that we passed were amazing. They are both the most amazing blue ... read more

Hey All, We had booked a whale watching trip at Kaikoura so Sunday morning we were up early to pick up the rental car. Kaikoura is about 150km north of Christchurch. Stopped for breakfast before we really hit the road though, Russ was siked about getting a full english. The driving is just like in the UK although Russ did all the driving and as usual I acted as navigator. The drive there took us around 2.5 hours but we were there in plenty of time before the boat left so had a wander on the beach. I can't believe the water here, the colour and purity of it is totally amazing (my photos don't do it justice). There were a few warnings about sea sickness so we decided to buy some pills just in case. ... read more

Ello All We arrived in Christchurch at around 4 on Friday. The temperature difference was noted straight away, it is freezing!! Nice and sunny but much colder than Australia, we have had to ditch the shorts and go for jeans and hoodies, booh!! The air feels crisp and fresh which is lovely! We got a bus from the airport to the city centre. Christchurch itself is very very British looking. It is lovely, very nice, and safe and everyone is chillaxed to the max. Not going to go into Christchurch too much as we are going to go out and get photos tomorrow, so will do a separate Christchurch blog. We booked in advance a Lord of the Rings tour to Edoras and the plains of Rohan. It was fecking excellent! I am just at the ... read more
