We are abour to depart Barbados after our short 4-day stay. Here I depict the leaving Guyana on Saturday and a few Barbados pictures. We fly out today at 4 PM Barbados time and arrive in Calgary, Alberta at 4:30 AM (1:30 our time). Amazingly, we are in Guyana. We arrived at Georgetown on Friday, Jan 4 at about 9 am after being in the process of flying via New York Kennedy and Port of Spain Trinidad. It is marvellous we can travel so far so effortlessly but, for me, with such trepidation! Guyana is a large country with little of its land occupied. The coastal areas we visited are filled with wonderful people. The main highway is a busy thoroughfare traveled by all kinds of vehicles. Brian’s Unique Place - September 2, 2007 I read recently where Vancouver was perhaps the most desirable large city in the world in which to live. Victoria, it’s neighbor across the water on Vancouver Island, might well be rated very highly as a most desirable smaller city. This city is the capital of the large province of British Columbia. Brian lives there on Government Street, just a short walk from the provincial legislature, from Inner Harbour, and from Beacon Hill, all part of this city with a distinctive British flavour at the core of it’s tourist attractions. Thursday, Aug 30, 2007 We awoke at 2:45 am to get ready and leave for Calgary at 3:15 am. We got away by 3:25 and drove at a rate of 120 k/h all the way to Calgary, arriving at the airport parking lot at 5:35. Checking thru was a fast and easy with our pre-printed boarding passes. Rose failed the security scan. She had unintentionally left a small pair of pointed manicure scissors in her purse that were confiscated. Flights were on time and very pleasant. It took 3 full weeks but it's pretty well done. The color is quite subdued with a tone of light yellow to blend with the rock front of the house and a very little gray trim. The auxillary sheds we also painted a lighter shade of gray. [View Full Entry]
