We are seniors in our community now and enjoy the priviledge of occasional luxurious bus trips to entertainment of one kind or another. This day it was to a rural foothills 'ranch barn' near Hillspring, Alberta where we were served a nice meal and then entertained by family who host at the Great Canadian Barn Dance. It is good down-home country music with a talented bunch on guitars, mandolins and rhythm. In the summer they hold regular dances in the loft of the barn. We doid not dance but enjoyed their nice mix of mostly Christmas music. The pictures show this [View Full Entry]

Latisha (our pharmacist) and Cory welcomed the birth of Xavier Daniel (6lb 11 oz. or 3.07 kg) on Tuesday, Sept. 26 at 9:45 AM after little more than 3 hours of relatively easy labor; so said Latisha's mother!! Today, at one week old, he made his first appearance in our pharmacy. Needless to say he was the center of attention, a role he must get used to being a male. (No sexism here!) [View Full Entry]

Our travels are minimal at the moment but life is fullof enjoyable things. In anticipation of having a house to provide in the event our future purchaser of the drugstore might need it, we bought one this week. It was an implusive move based on a perceived need. As it stands, we take possession on December 1, 2006. If we don't need it for our pharmacist, we'll re-sell it or rent it. The pictures show the house, it's position on the street and the proximity to the park block just across the street. [View Full Entry]

A New Vehicle North America » Canada » Alberta
Well, we have bought a 2006 Honda Odyssey Van to replace our 1994 Oldsmobile. It is a very fine vehicle with many wonderful features. Though it does not ride as softly as the Oldsmobile, it is much easier for me to enter and exit, we sit up higher, and all of the practical features are very user friendly. We found a a very nice home for the old car which is in very nice shape for it's age and operates quite flawlessly. Anyway, we took the plunge and spent a large amount of money. Hopefully it will serve us well for [View Full Entry]

Hello world! It was a god thing we took a vacation. Work has been heavy since returning home. But, finally the painting is doen, all but the few bits of trim and clean-up. Today I show the signs and results of getting them back up. I'm too proud of those repainted signs. It would have cost $450 to redo each professionally. It was fun to try and succeed in doing them ourselves. Masking the letters with tape where we could and free-hand doing the curves was interesting to say the least. The new garage worked well as a studio!! [View Full Entry]

These few pictures are to show that we're back at normal stuff here at home. In general, the weather has been quite ideal for painting the exterior of the store. I show some of the progress. Unfortunately I do not have any 'before' pictures of teh front to contrast with the finish job. Oh well!! I'm not sure how interesting this is but ... maybe *smile*. It is nice to have it freshly painted and feels very good. [View Full Entry]

Hello everyone. Yesterday was a day of unpacking and appreciating our own home town and area. I'm going to send a number of local pictures. It is time for our green grass to turn brown and crops to ripen and days to shorten into fall. We have had a cool front pass through leaving lingering showers and much cooler temperatures. Today it will be +18 C and tomorrow more sunshine and +21 C. In contrast to some of the spectacular sights we have witnessed in the last two weeks, my pictures today will be rather dull to most. But we live [View Full Entry]
