I was enjoying pasting your facebook location coordinates into google and doing a quick flyover of the terraced landscapes of central america, but I don't facebook much so I don't count. Rather be outside! Glad you made it home safe and sound.
Hot Springs & Fumaroles Glad you found a Toyota garage to get your vehicle serviced. The "Pacific Ring of Fire" that runs along the west coast of Central America (&USA and S. America) gives you those hot springs, volcanoes and fumaroles. Lived with those in Chile for a couple of years, but also had snow and Humboldt Current penguins that far south. Still vicariously enjoying your observations (not to mention dead companions, etc.!). Keep 'em comin'!
when are you coming back enjoying your blogs. we have to get Kyle and Eric to fix things around here. the wind on the day of the tornado knocked the mailbox down. but we're getting along o.k. Have fun.
I will begin to collect marbles for you. I will restock you collection of marbles when you get back. What kind do you like? New, used, swirled, cat's eyes?
Still Plannin' to 'do' "Central America"? "Gray Finders" (LG) - Hey QM, she asked if you were on your way back?
Back . . .? ? Several additional scenic & historic Central American countries exist between English-speaking Belize at the far north end, Panama way down at the south end, and some beautiful National Parks in Costa Rica in between, if of interest.
If you are really feeling brave and make it that far, check and see if the Darien Pass (& any new extension of the "Pan American Highway") is open to cross into northern Colombia after the "Bridge of the Americas" over the Panama Canal. Be REAL CAREFUL there though.
Your blogs are fun, keep it up! Thanks for sharing. It will be interesting to see how far you get into geographic Central America . . . and maybe beyond. Keep safe. Enjoy the people, scenery, history, and cultures!!
Belize Parks and Reserves Starting to sound good. Going to take in some of Belize's spectacular National Parks, Natural Reserves and Wildlife Sanctuaries? Half Moon Caye might be worth a detour once you get out of the jungle and over to the coast. Much smaller distance than driving across Mexico, or states between PA and there. With English as the northernmost Central American nation's official language, travel issues should be somewhat easier than other places on your itinerary. Sounds like you are having fun. Vicariously enjoying your journey. Thanks for sharing.
All caught up Ok, I'm all caught up on your blogs. Should have joined you when I had the chance, now I'm really jealous!I heard there was a cave where the touristas can float thru on an inner tube. And walk across swinging rope bridges. Probably not as much fun as going thru covered bridges, but maybe some fun anyway. Enjoy the journey, and be safe. (or is that mutually exclusive??)

Air Conditioning So Johnny, have you been using the air conditioning in the Silly Scion? Or are you leaving it off to remind you of what it was like to travel in the Mighty Colt?
Completely lost due to incompetence...
I was born with a sick fascination for maps... I live in the same small town where I was born and raised but I've been seen elsewhere in the world including all 50 United States and a few other strange places like: Wanaka, Tasmania, Chamonix, Siena, Nairobi, Zanzibar, Rajasthan, Namche Bazar, Phuket, Pinang, Lombok, Taipei, Luquillo, Cuernavaca, Ollantaytambo, Cha'llapampa, Panajachel, and Connellsville.
I am writing this blog at the behest of a few friends and family who expressed an interest in receiving regular updates on my road trip to Central... full info
