In October 2008 the Porto-Bristol Association had the opportunity to study Roman art and architecture through the "Vale do Sousa", in Northern Portugal. This one day special Itinerary, organised by Doctor Duarte Pinheiro and Anabela Marques, proved a resounding success for the 14 members that went along. A first class tour of some of the beautiful historical monuments / churches in the region, with lots of useful information by our Guide, made the day very interesting. In March 2008 the "Porto-Bristol Association" went dancing along the Yellow Brick Road all the way to the "Casa da Música" in Porto. This was for a rather special Concert, performed by the "Orquestra Nacional do Porto" , who played the music score for the complete Judy Garland film. Afterwards 19 members followed the road to the "Shakesbeer" restaurant, for an enjoyable lunch. To end the year (2007) in our traditional manner the PBA members gathered for our Annual Dinner at the Oporto Cricket & Lawn Tennis Club. With 28 people present this turned out to be a great evening, with good food, raffle prizes and a lot of socializing. In November 2007 Mrs Cora Aspey, the President of the “Porto Bristol Assoçiacão” for all these years decided to return to the United Kingdom to be closer to her family. Cora had continued the work for many years that her husband the Reverend Albert Aspey had started. We all wish Cora, and her Cat, every happiness in their new home, in Monmouth. The President Elect Peter Evens, whose parents used to live in Clifton, Bristol, joined Cora and some other Association members, for a cream tea at the Oporto Cricket & Lawn Tennis Club to say farewell.
