Celebrated on the 10th month of the Hindu calendar, Thaipusam, which falls in January or February each year, is a day of penance and thanksgiving for Hindus. The festival is celebrated in honour of Lord Muruga (also known as Lord Subramaniam) and Hindus believe that sins can be cleansed during Thaipusam. Many who take part in the festival prepare themselves by cleansing their bodies through fasting and abstinence, usually observing a vegetarian diet for a certain period of time. On the eve of the festival, the image of Lord Muruga, on a be jewelled silver chariot, is pull along by 2 bulls. My experience down under began with a short visit to Sydney. It was great to meet woo Jung and her friends. Nice to see Gobie as well another time ( as usuall in another new country...such a gipsy!!!!). I worked for an orchard in Aralouen (150 km south of Canberra) for the rest 4 month of my permanence in Aussie. Even if picking fruit is a hard job I enjoied it: leaving in a tend in the countryside surrounded just from nature and animals; weaking up with the sunrise and slowly go to work walking and be watched by curious kangaroos and cows; parties on the campsite; the long night walks to the pub just to call her with the hope that her mobile wasn't switched off; a bath in Bombay; the days off from work ... read more

After 15 days in Sydney is time to leave again. I found a job in a farm one hour and a half southern than Canberra. If it'll be nice I'll stay untill January picking fruit. Until now I felt like a tourist but I begin to see my route and I hope I'll be able to follow this trail. many thanks to Woo-Jung, Jun, Shanie and Joseph for friendship and enormous help. After 13 months of roaming around I reached home. I can't describe the feelings when I met again all the people that i missed so much in this trip. Also i can't describe the feelings that the people I met on the road make me feel. I really want to say thanks to all this people:at home and on the road.
