dear family and friends: how are you all doing??? i think the school year had started for some of you and i wish the transition will be smooth and stressless. i went to the Cape Coast Castle and the Elmina Castle last week with my travel mates from Calvin. it was truly an eye opening and heart twisting experience. Those are not castle of the king or queen, prince and princess but of the slave master and slaves, of brutality and pain. i wrote a little reflection on it... i will post it here to share with you all: There i was, being overwhelmed by the waves of the ocean. dear family and friends, it is almost been a month since i am here in this red dirt country, Ghana. life is definitely a lot busier with school being in full swing. i might even dare to say that i study more here than back home at Calvin College. even my roommate was amazing how hard i study... haha... or more like he was surprise by how hard a exchange student can study. my roommate and i had surely established a great friendship. we study together, we talk about theology of the Pentecostal churches which he attends every weekend, we discuss about political situation of Ghana especially its far too often news of corruptions in the government, we sing and play music together... it been truly blessing to have him as my roommate and friends. there ... read more

dear friends and family, how are you all... life here been well... with the ghanan way of living here: wake up early and sleep early... had make me a early riser too!!! over the last few day... we been around the city accra and all kind of markets, big or small!!! the market here is so lively and energetic. there are always noise, music and laughter. i love the market. there are so many people in one small place trying to sell and buy goods, interaction here is just so amazing and diverse. i can see so many different personality in such a short period of time. hi, everyone... life here is great and i am doing well!!! i love here, love the people, love the food, love the carefree attitude, love my travel mates, love the red clay dirt, love my room, love my cold shower, love my roommate!!! things been running very smoothly here!!! i got here safe and sound, and the drive from the airport to the university just blew me away with its simplicity and beauty. i met my roommate and had already became great friends with him, we talk til late at night talking about the city of Accua, his family, my family, music, the history and interesting thing about the university, the crazy dorm hall that is in campus, different tradition here in campus and in Ghana... it was such a great time!!! he is a soft ... read more
