David O'Grady Luis Duran is doing well in class and in every other aspect of school. He is trying to bounce back from the incident he had and he is trying as best as he can to catch up. David O’Grady 3/20/12 World History I believe in religious tolerance and the pursuit of peace between different religions. I am a Mexican Irish Muslim that has always tried to fit in with some group of people that would accept me. For so long I have heard many stereotypes and criticism of different religions, and of the people who follow them. An example I have heard time and time again is that every Muslim is a terrorist. Another example of Muslim stereotypes is that all Muslims look like Osama Bin Laden. So many people blind themselves to the fact that 1.62 billion people around the world are Muslims. My article was entitled " Mexican journals report on drug cartels despite the risks." It has been three years since a journalist has been killed, which was believed was the result of him doing work in Ciudad Juarez with the drug cartels. Since 2000, 74 journalists have been killed. No one has really investigated his death, which is an example of a lot of unsolved murders. Every time when a detective is on the case they are either dead or they leave. The Nile River Valley Civilization were the Egyptians.The economy was based from farming because water was so accessible. This was because the Nile River flooded every year. The Social structure consisted of: a king, ruling class, Craftsmen, farmers, marginalized groups, and slaves. The Egyptians were big on architecture, because they made pyramids and big boats. I had read the article about the homeless being the victim of hate crimes and other violence. I chose this article because it relates to what we are learning about in class, which is the example of the treatment of classes in a civilization. I have learned that 74 acts of violence in 49 states has been committed against the homeless. The homeless are affected because they are being abused and mistreated.
