Days 3 - 5 September 3 - 5th Hi! I haven't written in a few days because I've been on the run for what feels like the ENTIRE time! Ok, so day 3 we had to wake up at 3:30 am so we could meet the shuttle in front of the hotel lobby at 430 am in order to catch a flight from Cairo to Luxor. That sucked! Anyway, once we got the airport, I finally started to feel alive again....sort of. We flew to Luxor and arrived in Luxor around 8 something. The scenery in Luxor is much different than Cairo. First of all, it's a WAY smaller city. Cairo is ridiculously busy. They have 20 million people living in Cairo and you can tell. Isn't that almost twice the population of NYC? Anyway, Luxor ... read more

Day 2 ā€“ Cairo, Egypt 9/2/12 Today was great in Cairo. The tour group met in the main lobby for breakfast before we headed out to the pyramids. The breakfast was buffet style and had lots of falafel! We had our breakfast, coffee and juice and headed to the great pyramids of Giza. When we arrived at the pyramids, there were lots of people there trying to sell us things immediately. Our tour guide told us to be firm with them and to keep saying no, because we can get better deals when we go to Luxor and Aswan, which we will be doing tomorrow. The guys were very pushy and were actually kind of annoying, but we were successful at not buying anything. The area was surrounded by camels, men in long shirts (for lack ... read more

Day 1 ā€“ Cairo, Egypt 9/1/12 First off, let me start out by telling you that I have wanted to see the pyramids since I was around 5 years old. I have always been fascinated with the Egyptian culture and history. I actually remember telling my grandmother when I was young that I wanted to go to Oxford in England and study archeology so I could work at the pyramids and unmask lots of cool and mysterious Egyptian secrets. Wow. Iā€™m sitting on the porch of my hotel and hearing the cars constantly beep at each other. Cairo is crazy but more about that in a minute. Our flight took off around 7:00 pm Eastern Standard time from JFK in NYC and arrived in Cairo around 10:30 am, Cairo time. The flight was good, relatively low ... read more

North America September 11th 2011

Hello All!! Today has been quite a day!! I woke up at 6:30 and was really excited at how awake I was!!! Of course this was due to the fact that it was really like 9:30 in my mind since I haven't adjusted to the time change. So, YAY, I will be getting up early tomorrow too. Haha, it's kind of funny because I'm ready to go to bed right now and I looked at the clock and it is 7:45!!!! Anyway, I woke up in Indian Wells, CA this morning and was preparing for my drive today to Tucson. After checking out of the hotel, I got my car, parked it, and then proceeded to put the top down. This was a first (unsupervised). I was pretty surprised at how easy it was to get ... read more

North America September 10th 2011

Today is day one of my trip. I woke up this morning, after hitting snooze a couple of times, at 6:20 a.m eastern time. My flight left Dulles airport at 8:50 this morning and arrived at LAX at 11:00 a.m. WOW! What a crazy mess LAX is! Seems like an insanely busy airport! I can tell you that within the first 5 minutes of arriving in LA, I decided that it's not the town for me. However....I'm kind of digging San Juan Capistrano, which is about an hour south of LA. After waiting at the airport for about 30 minutes for my ride to arrive, a guy from the dealership named Nate picked me up. I think he's about 26 years old, seems kind of surferish and is really funny. We had a good trip to ... read more
