Hi Everyone

Thanks for taking the time to read our blog of our travelling adventure!

We're going travelling for 3 months this summer. We fly in and out of Kuala Lumpar but for the rest of the time it's just us, our backpacks and a map! We have a rough idea of our route but nothing is certain so keep checking in for the latest updates of where we are.

We will try to update things on here as much as we can.

Lots of Love... we miss you (and a proper English cup of tea) already!

Hello everyone, So from Sengiggi we caught the bus to Lembar, the slow ferry to Padangbai and then the bus to Ubud. We booked the trip with Perama which is a local tour company we've been using a lot to get around Bali and Lombok. The slow ferry was a busy experience with lots of noise and people shoving all kinds of snacks and drinks in your face for you to buy, but it wasn't as slow as we thought and we arrived to Bali ahead of schedule. The bus to Ubud was fine but we arrived in the dark. We walked from the Perama office to Monkey Forest Street (the tourist name given to it because of the Monkey Sanctuary at the bottom of the road). We went into an expensive looking place which was ... read more

After our extended, very relaxing stay on GT we decided to not be such lazy beach lay abouts and wanted to do something active. So we had this fantastic idea to climb Mount Rinjani. I wish someone had stopped us there and said, 'Hang on girls.... this is a 3,726 metre mountain you're talking about climbing!' but unfortunately we booked the 3D/2N tour without a second thought and we happily waved goodbye to our beloved bungalow on paradise island. We did not stay happy for long. The boat and bus transfer to the trek centre took a few hours. We were told that when we got there it would be no problem to rent shoes, rucksacks and jackets. Well, of course we were told that because the guy on GT who we booked our ticket with ... read more

Firstly, apologies for the lack of blogging on this trip! It seems hard to find the time to get online and blog but I'll try to catch you all up on what we've been upto now. So from Ulu Watu we went to Nusa Lembongan. We got the seriously over-priced taxi from Thomas' Homestay to Sanur and stayed one night in Sanur. The beach there is supposed to be a real tourist resort but it didn't seem all that beautiful. Most of the holiday makers looked to be Balinese - maybe they like to go there and stay away from all the westerners in Kuta! Anyway, we booked our ticket for the boat to Nusa Lembongan for the following morning and then stayed in a nice place called the Watering Hole. The next morning we caught ... read more

Hi Everyone Sorry for the lack of blogging... it's hard to find the time to blog often but I will try to get you upto date now. So, from Singapore we flew to Bali. Had the worst experience on the plane when it just dropped from the sky for a few seconds and everybody gasped and clutched the seats but everything straightened out again pretty quickly. We had met a couple, Sarah and Derek, in the taxi to the airport who were on the same flight and so shared a taxi with them from the airport to Kuta. Kuta is the main town on Bali. It was a great beach, good surf and awesome nightlife. So it's pretty much where everyone starts out in Bali. We've heard it being called 'a Kuta vortex' since we left ... read more

Asia » Indonesia » Bali » Uluwatu June 16th 2011

Hello So, from Kuta we got a taxi to Ulu Watu. We were glad to leave Kuta having been there for 4 days. It is so busy that we wanted somewhere much more chilled to hang out. Ulu Watu is in the South of Bali. It is a surfers paradise with big waves and we managed to fall into a group of really great people while we were there. We stayed at a place called Thomas Homestay which we read about in the LP. The taxi driver didn't know where it was at first but we finally found a sign and he drove us down a very long, winding gravel path towards the sea. Feeling rather dubious about what we were going to find we came to a few shabby looking buildings at the end of ... read more

(Naomi) Hello Everyone We left KL on Monday and caught a bus to Singapore. It was weird saying goodbye to the Atkinson family after staying at their apartment... they had been so friendly and welcoming to us, and it was fabulous to be with people who live in the city at our first stop because they gave us lots of information about what was best to do. So we left the apartment and immediately went wrong. We couldn't find the LRT to catch the train to the station so we got in a taxi. We thought the bus for Singapore went from Puduraya bus station so the taxi driver took us there. When I said we needed the terminal for Singapore we got just a non-committal grunt which we now realise is because the bus from ... read more

(Naomi) Hi Everyone! Don't panic, mums... we are still alive! We arrived in KL after an incredibly long and tiring journey on Thursday morning. After setting out to London on Tuesday afternoon, we were treated to a fab meal and evening with the Jones' which was perfect to see us off on our travels. Up at 5:30am to catch the bus to the airport... it possibly wasn't the best start when we missed our terminal stop and had to get the transfer tube back... but this was soon forgotten about with a fry-up and a pint at the airport. Flight to Bahrain was long. Flight to KL was even longer, made worse by the child that cried all night meaning we got hardly any sleep! Arrived in KL at 9:40am. Got a taxi to the apartment ... read more
