Monte Terras

We sold everything in the Netherlands in may 2005 and are living since then in beautiful Costa Rica where we run a B&B and Cabina's. The cat Flekkie also came with us, she is already 16 years old. And now we have two parrots and a dog called Lucky. The little town of Tronadora where we live is nice and quiet and located at lake Arenal. From our house we have a spectacular view at the lake and the Arenal volcano as well. At night we can see the lava come down from the volcano, that is fantastic to watch.

Hello again, This is our final blog about our trip to the US.....after beautiful and cold Alaska we went to visit our friends in Philadelphia. Nice and quiet, same as our place in Costa Rica, and very important: it was nice and warm....after Alaska Willeke needed some sunshine badly.... Hello again, Yes, this is right ! we actually went to Alaska. Ken and Peggy invited us some time ago and we decided to just go ! it took us three flights to get there, almost mist the one from Chicago to Anchorage but fortunately for us the flight was delayed as well and we were the last people boarding pffff. The luggage didn’t make it though, that arrived a day later when we already were in Homer. We arrived in Anchorage at midnight and it was still light, very strange. Next morning our first run was to a store to get a fleece vest for Willeke because it was COLD ! Kees didn’t have a problem with it but Willeke was just cold…..brrrr after that we were fine, got some coffee and went to the ... read more

Just for all the animal lovers among you....some pictures of Chica and her babies. They are so very cute, the two dogs Lucky and Pluto love to help mama Chica with cleaning the babies and she lets them. It’s amazing to watch the big dogs being so carefull with the tiny kittens. No need for a lot of words, so just enjoy ! We moved ! no kidding ! Our house is a different colour now, so it feels like we live in another house....we love it, it’s much more cosier than white! It was a lot of work but the result is great. Kees started in january already, sanding and varnishing the wood so he is done with painting for a year ..... Togehter with our Tico friends Jolie and Nelson and some other Ticos which we didn’t know, we went to Rio Celeste. It’s a national park an hour and a half away from us. Nelson’s brother owns a couple of cabinas at the entrance so we went there. It was great, spending a day with Ticos....we went for a hike, which took us four hours, a bit tough some times but definately worth it. The river ... read more

Hi everyone, How are you ? we would like to hear that.... We are doing great, getting some guests and in between we are doing a lot of other things. Thanks to the people who send us the grape cuttings from Holland. Twelve out of fourteen are getting leaves, so we have to find a place in the sun and without a lot of wind for them to grow. Maybe in a couple of years we will have our own grapes....can’t wait. Our neighbours surprised us with black berries from their garden hmmm, we’ll get a cutting from that one too. Looks like we’re gonna have a fruit garden huh ? sounds good to me ! Our old cat Flekkie, which we brought with us from Holland, died after 18 years. She had a nice time ... read more
