Waz Up ?

After Alaska we went to stay with other friends in the Philadelphia area. The day after we arrived there we went to NEW YORK !!!! Rich came with us and played tour guide for the day, he did a really good job. It took us two hours in the car to get to the Big Apple, parked the car and went walking for about 7 hours. And yes, after that we were pretty tired....pfff
We went to:
Broadway
42nd street were all the theaters/musicals are, lots of advertisements in neon lights
Visited St. Patricks cathedral, very impressive with a lot of beautiful stained glas windows
Went for a ride in a carriage with very tame horses through a small part of Central Park
Sat in the lounge of the Plaza Hotel, very expensive drinks, $ 18.00 for a Gin and Tonic
Uncle Donald (Trump) wasn’t there so we had some coffee by ourselves in the Trump Tower
5th avenue, where all the (very) expensive shops are, like Saks
Rockefeller Plaza where the big Xmas tree is and the ice skating-rink
Empire State Building, with a great view at the city
We were very busy, yes. Also Willeke had a beauty make over in Saks, she had a date with Yves (St. Laurent). That was a lot of fun and she finally got her own Saks bag, a big one haha. We took the elevator to the 5th floor where we touched some nice fur coats like $ 25.000,00 each or more, a shame they still sell those things. Designer jeans for $ 600,00 and so on. Our wallet didn’t contain that much money so we left Saks.....
New York is a crazy busy city with a lot of different people, yo waz up man ? the city that never sleeps, and that’s right. You can do almost anything at anytime and the people just keep on walking, taxi’s keep on riding, musicals keep on playing and so on.
We didn’t want to get stuck in rush hour so we had a small dinner in a restaurant recommended by two (almost drunken) man in a bar where they didn’t have any food. It was a spanish place (yep) so we drank some spanish beer, the waitress looked spanish but was half egyptian (?), we listened to spanish music and the food was pretty good.
We were home late but had a wonderful day in the Big Apple, thanks Rich. Offcourse we stayed in Philadelphia for more than one day, so there will be another Travelblog......just be patient.

Waz Up ?

Na Alaska zijn we doorgereisd naar Philadelphia om vrienden daar op te zoeken. De volgende dag gingen we naar NEW YORK !!!! Rich ging met ons mee als gids. Twee uur rijden en we waren in the Big Apple, de auto geparkeerd en daarna hebben we 7 uur gelopen. En ja, we waren behoorlijk moe daarna .......pffff
We hebben het volgende gezien:
Broadway
42nd street waar de theaters/musicals zijn, veel neon verlichting/reclame
Bezoek gebracht aan St. Patricks cathedral, indrukwekkend met mooie glas in lood ramen
Natuurlijk een ritje gemaakt in paard (errug tam) en wagen door Central Park
In the lounge van het Plaza Hotel gezeten, dure drankjes, $ 18.00 voor een Gin and Tonic
Oom Donald (Trump) was er niet dus we hebben zelf koffie gedronken in de Trump Tower
5th avenue, waar alle hele dure winkels zijn zoals Saks
Rockefeller Plaza waar de grote Kerstboom staat met de ijsbaan
Empire State Building, met een geweldig uitzicht op de big city
We hebben het behoorlijk druk gehad ja. Willeke had een date met Yves (St. Laurent) in Saks en heeft zich lekker laten opmaken door een franse dame aldaar. Eindelijk had ze dan de felbegeerde grote tas van Saks te pakken haha. Daarna hebben we de lift genomen naar de vijfde verdieping waar we mooie bontjassen hebben betast, zo’n $ 25.000 per stuk, jammer dat ze die nog steeds verkopen. Ook designer jeans voor $ 600 etc, onze portemonnee was niet zo dik dus zijn we verder gegaan....
New York is een gekke drukke stad met veel verschillende mensen, yo waz up? De stad die nooit slaapt (letterlijk vertaald) en dat is echt zo. Je kunt ongeveer bijna alles op bijna elk tijdstip doen of zien, de mensen blijven lopen en de taxis blijven af en aan rijden, enz.
We wilden niet in de spits naar huis rijden dus zijn we wat wezen eten in een restaurant op aanraden van een tweetal bijna dronken mannen in een bar die niks te eten had. Het was een spaans restaurant, dus namen we een spaans biertje, de serveerster zag er spaans uit maar was half egyptisch (?) we luisterden naar spaanse muziek terwijl we van een lekker maaltje genoten.
We waren laat thuis na een geweldige dag in New York, natuurlijk zijn we langer in Philadelphia gebleven, er volgt dus nog een Travelblog, nog even geduld hebben....
