Santorini Day 2 Europe » Greece » South Aegean » Santorini
Wow, good day in Santorini! Scooters around the island all day--went to the sand houses along the shore, drove to the rim of the caldera and over to the Red Beach and then up to Ancient Thira. Finished off the afternoon with a gyro on the beach and then jumped off a good 40 foot cliff into the Aegean! Ahhh. . .quick shower and then we all scootered over to Oia to watch the sunest. Now grabbing a beer or two in my favorite internet cafe overlooking the square. Early night since tomorrow we have a lot to do--chartered a huge [View Full Entry]

Wow!! So I am done a week or so of this year's trip and been to Athens, Mykonos, Ios, and Santorini (arrived today). Greece is amazing as always. The 3 island cruise from Athens was good--lots of sun, but gotta love Poros and Hydra (Aegina--blah). Mykonos was a bit better than normal, but it is so expensive. We stayed in a new hotel and I liked it more than the one that we usually stay at that is even more expensive. Right on the beach and at the bus stop and a nice pool--with all the rooms looking out onto the [View Full Entry]

OK, so I am about to embark on my latest summer adventure. I would say this one is not as crazy in terms of strange, new places to go, but it is crazy in other ways. I will be hitting up places that are packed with great nightlife (not that I will be tearing it up or anything), lots of backpackers, adventures to partake in, beautiful surroundings, etc. Doing the Greece thing for the 7th year in a row, so that is sure to be fun, then heading to some new and some old destinations. Here is what I have planned: [View Full Entry]

Wow, lots of driving and I can't remember where I left off, so I will go with the short version. Scotland is amazing to get out and see. Quite possibly one of my 3 favorite countries now. We drove from Stirling the other day all the way past Fort William, the island of Skye and right through much of the Highlands. Stayed at a castle in northern Scotland and got up yesterday to go to Uruqhot (spelling?0 Castle on Loch Ness and were the only ones out there for the first 15 minutes as we got there right at opening. The [View Full Entry]

Well, long day of travel, but great scenery in Scotland. We were up at 6:30 and off to the airport by the city bus for our flight to Liverpool, England. Got in at about 10:30 and got our rental car at Hertz. They screwed us over, though, by charging us an extra $200 that what we have on our email confirmation--and not for insurance or anything, just the price. Whatever. Anyway, we did not make the drive over to Bangor, Wales--just not enough time even though it was not too far out of the way. We hit the road to go [View Full Entry]

OK, so the last night in Dublin was tons of fun too. Some people almost talked us into staying an extra night and skipping Belfast, but we did not. A guy we met at the hostel the night before, Peter Katz, was playing at a local pub as a solo singer/songwriter/etc. and so we all went over to see him open for another act and he was so excited. Great guy who is tring to make it as a musician and he was amazing. Heard about 5 songs only that he wrote and there were maybe no more than 50 people [View Full Entry]

Dublin Europe » Ireland » County Dublin » Dublin
Wow, never thought I would like Dublin so much, but it may have moved to the top of my favorite cities list. The Temple Bar District at least is so much fun. Of course I love the pub culture with the great food and good beer. We have been to Trinity College today and St. Stephen's Green and off to the Guinness Sorehouse in a bit, but such culture here. . .anyway, short time on the computer, but just wanted to send an update. Staying at Barnacles Temple Bar House and it is great too. Met lots of poeple night one [View Full Entry]

Prague Europe » Czech Republic » Prague
So I was back to Prague for a few days and it is still one of my favorite places to go, right up there with Ljubljana. So much action. I think there were even more tourists than I remembered from last year though, but you can just walk around those little streets forever. Things are not quite so cheap anymore either due to the bad US dollar--each dollar is not about 14 Czech krowns and I think last year when I went it was 20. Anyway, the hostel was a pretty good location with a gross shower, but not bad overall. [View Full Entry]

Dubrovnik again Europe » Croatia » Dalmatia » Dubrovnik
Well, we took the bus to Budva, Montenegro the other day and it was a rough ride. We had to change in Montenegro after a long wait at the Croatia border. The bus had no AC and every seat was taken. Not fun. The city was sort of chaotic when we got there. Had to find a place to stay and the place we got was nice, but it did not seem like a location for us. Reminded me of the crowded Italian beaches and there was a lot of congestion for a small city packed in a little mountain valley. [View Full Entry]

Dubrovnik, Croatia Europe » Croatia » Dalmatia » Dubrovnik
So we are in Dubrovnik now and it is gorgeous. Got in last night and staying at the same sobe stayed in last year. A bit of a walk downhill to the old city, but the people are great and they gave us the best room with ac and a great view. The lady did our laundry last night (and brought us juice and cookies when we firts got there) and tonight we are going to have them cookout for us on the deck--all you can eat chicken and meat, potatoes, salad, ice cream, etc. Should be good. Anyway, this am [View Full Entry]
