So on day 2 in Korcula and it is as amazing as it was last year! Beautiful. Got on a scooter yesterday and Roger, Matt, and I went all over the island. Visited a lady here Roger knew who had a nice house right on the water and she cut up some fruit for us and got us some juice as it was so hot out. Amazing!! Not only is Ljubljana gorgeous everywhere you look, but the countryside is too. We took the bus to Bled today and it may be my favorite place in the world! Beautiful, crystal clear lake with an island church in the middle and surrounded by the Julian Alps. Walked up to the clifftop castle and walked the 3.5 mile loop around the lake. Took a little side trip up to a huge moutain and were the only ones up here for the best views of the lake. Tough, uphill climb, but amazing! OK, this place is amazing! So far, it is my favorite stop. Great little old city below the castle and we are staying rigt in the middle. Climb up the castle and see the Alps in the distance. Thee is a little river running through town and all these cafes right along side of it. Every street looks lie a postcard. Can't believe so few pople have heard of it here, but chances are Americans will discover it soon enough more than they have already. OK, so in Vienna now and it is not too bad. Huge, nice buildings in the city center. Our hostel is great. Huge! Nice bar downstairs, they give you a free drink when you enter, happy hour 6 to 8>00 tonight, etc. We also got a great room for 18 euros. 4 beds and private bath, shower, and fan with a table and chairs. Way different. Oh yeah, so Roger and I just had a huge meal each of grasshoppers, ostrich, kangaroo, and crocodile meat with a Fosters beer. Good times! More later. . . [View Full Entry]

Krakow was amazing. The best Old Town I have been in. There is so much going on there all day long--cafes, musicians, concerts, horse carriage rides, bars, nightclubs, etc. Beautiful too. Today we took a 6 hr train to Bratislava, Slovakia. Very interesting. Had to go here because of Eurotrip! We just got back from the huge castle overlooking the city and that was pretty neat, but it is raining off and on so have not gotten a chance to see the Old Town here yet. Not a very eventful last evening in Vilnius, but went on a 'pub crawl' with a few people, but it was a bit lame. I would by no means say that Vilnius has a raging nightlife scene. Think Riga was a bit better and Tallinn was comparable. We were in by 1:00, but I guess real late nights are not my thing anymore--well, maybe not quite. We'll see what happens at the coast. OK, so checked out the Old Town, walked up to the castle for the best view of the city, and went to the former KGB headquarters to explore the old cells, execution rooms, etc. and the museum. So made it to Vilnius. Sort of scary drive in from the airport on the city bus. Not anywhere near as nic as Riga and Tallinn, but not bad--just a lot different. Have not seen much of the Old Town yet, but got some good, but very filling, Lithuanian food tonight there. Hostel is crowded, but some good people and a little more fun than the last one. So not much new to report. Went out for a bit to grab a couple beers last night, but mostly just hung out and talked at the hostel. Roger got in about 1:30am and we were up today at 10 to see the city (again for me). Really small Old Town, but just a nice place to walk around. Going to skip the beer festival I think since it is out of the city and seems to be more of an Estonian music festival, so we will probably do a "tour" of the pubs and maybe a late night club.
