I guess I left you in Belaga, guuuuuu, I better catch up!! Belaga, Belaga, oh yes…. We left early the next morning, Desi and I, on there little ferry boat to Sibu. It took quite a few hours and when we hit Sibu we agreed to carry on to Kuching 8 hours away by bus. This made it a 16 hour journey and we arrived at midnight to the Singgahsana Lodge, where we fell in love with the staff, accommodations and guests who were all there throughout the festival. They were our new family and made it so hard to leave. [View Full Entry]

Okay well the last 2 weeks have been quite adventurous and full of fun, a special thanks to the comrades I’ve met along the way. I think I left off in Brunei where I had met again with Desi, the Swiss girl. From Brunei we bused it to Miri and shacked up in a really nice little hostel, The Highlands, where we ran into 2 more Swiss, Steve and Christoph, and ended up spending about 5 pretty full on days with them. Christoph only spoke French so it was pretty hard to communicate with him but Steve turned out to be [View Full Entry]

Well Brunei definitely deserves its own blog entry. This country is highly developed and a lot of time and money has gone into making it absolutely stunning. Most people I talked to must have missed the beauty, it reminds me a little of Granada, Nicaragua, it nothing like it but just the feeling of looking around and there's so much to see. I came over here with Catherine and Dawn, a couple of Scottish girls I originally met in Semporna. When we went out for dinner the first night we met a guy who offered to have his driver take us [View Full Entry]

Malaysia has been so wonderful, maybe a little tiring because there is so much to do and see, but still wonderful. The last two weeks have flown by like crazy. I flew into Kota Kinabalu on the 1st of June and by the time I went to bed I met a couple guys to climb Mt.Kinabalu with and we were off the next day. To climb this mountain you need to book an extremely overpriced room at the top and also pay like $30 to reach the peak, but that’s not it, you also MUST get a guide. Now we [View Full Entry]

Well I guess this is it for me in the Philippines and though my time here was very much enjoyed I am happy to be moving on. I guess I’m a little tired (going on 2 months), it is really a lot of work to travel here, and doing it solo doesn’t make it any easier. It’s not that you can’t get to where you want it’s just the route that must be taken can be long and exhausting. I’m stoked that I will be able to jump on a bus for a couple hours and arrive in a new [View Full Entry]

The landscape and flora and fauna in the Northern region of the Philippines is sure something. Some say the rice terraces are the 8th wonder of the world, well they are spectacular that is for sure. The thousands of years of work and planning that went into building these mountain side terraces dose not go unnoticed. I gazed in awe and wonder for hours after arriving, a photo could never do this beautiful land justice. I spent a few days hanging out in Manila after arriving back from Donsol, did a little partying and got to spend some time with my [View Full Entry]

Ahhhh…. So where was I, Boracay I believe. Well, Boracay is the most popular tourist destination in all of the Philippines; to me that makes it so much less desirable but I had to go. My primary reason of going was to go to the immigration department there, which turned out to be a desk in the tourist information center, for a quick and easy visa extension. Yes the beaches were beautiful, white sand and clean water (in some areas), but completely overpopulated with tourists. I’d say Koreans and Pilipino were the majority of the population coming for a quick [View Full Entry]

Ahhh. Finally internet that works well, expensive but it’s all right with me. Where do I start… I left Puerto Galera heading to Romblon, a place that wasn’t even in my lonely planet book(a friend recommended) so I had no information on how to get there and ended up traveling all through the night. I enjoyed it though because they sardine you into these Jeepneys and in the day she’s scorching, but nice and cool at night. I have realized now that you really don’t need to do any planning, just tell anyone where you want to go and they send [View Full Entry]

This will be really short. I am now in the Philippines, sunburned and hot, at a beach called Sabang (near Puerto Galera). It scenery is beautiful, the people so friendly and the weather is ideal. It is all wonderful besides the massive sex trade industry this place brings. Everywhere you look there are old, balding, not at all attractive men with these beautiful, tiny, young Philippino women. It's crazy because the town is so small and there are so many. I'm not going to get into it right now though. I have been on 4 dives, including my first night dive, [View Full Entry]

So my time in South Korea is come to an end and I wanted to just give my overall opinion and some things to think about if you’re thinking about traveling here. First of all there is not a huge foreign tourist scene here in Korea, for the solo backpacker like myself. I found them to have a great transportation system with fairly cheap buses all over the country but once you reached your destination there are not a lot of cheap places to stay, and sometime they are hard to find. Unless of course you are traveling with a [View Full Entry]
