I hope this blog entry finds everyone doing well and enjoying the end of summer. I recently spend a weekend in two cities in the Black Forest. The Black Forest in Germany is called Schwarzwald, which translates out literally to Black Forest. On Saturday I went with a group of about 10 people from my program and went to the town of Triberg. So I have been in Germany for about 3 weeks already and I wanted to share a few of my weekend adventures. Being in Germany has brought me very close to many different towns and each town has it very own festivals and I swear they have a new one every week. My adventure in Germany has officially started. After spending the couple of days in DC with my Dad my program seminar started. I met all of the participants from all over the country. The ages are mostly 1 year out of college or just finished college. Everyone I have met is really nice and I have had a really good time getting to know people from states I have never been to. My first stop on the way to Germany is a seminar in Washington DC. During the seminar we go over important program information and even go to classes about the culture shock that we are going to have. Since I had never been to DC I really wanted to tour around the city and I thought my father would love to go as well. We arrived in DC on Sunday afternoon. The little "Quaint" town of Drayton in Rural North Dakota The lake cabin I knew would be the last time I would see all my friends together for a year. I had to say goodbye to Nate for a year since he had to go back to Ohio. I knew that everyone in the cities I would see at least once more before I left. My friends and I have always talked about how great it would be to have one of us own a lake cabin. Since I got the opportunity to live and work in Germany I knew I wouldn't be able to buy the lake cabin. :) Once my friends found out I was leaving them for a year we all decided to rent a lake cabin in northern Minnesota.
